I literally gave up on full cg routine due to cold climatic condition of Himachal Pradesh where I moved after marriage added with hectic work hrs as a doctor. Since December I have been sporting my naked curls only with shampoo and conditioner(sometimes dc when weather is more forgiving). Frizz is not too much like before I started cgm, but there’s none of that 2b/2c curl definition I had. It’s 2a without styling. Yes I didn’t skip pre poo with oils(Mix of Bringadi oil and Black seed oil) which I kept for an hr and instead of silicone filled serum I applied mix of oils (argan oil, grape seed oil and jojoba oil) on lengths of my damp hair. This kept my scalp healthy and gave shine to my hair with minimal frizz. This content of yours will be a life saver for many who are short on time and can make it work by dividing wash routine in 2 days.I’ll definitely give this method a shot. I hope my hair will start looking good again. Thanks a lot for this useful video.😊 Welcome back. So happy to see you again. I hope your health is in better condition. Take care of yourself Michelle.❤️

I need to thank you. I have low porosity hair and used water based light conditioner by just herbs and very light oil ( grape seed) and little gel with water. It worked wonders. One suggestion. The low porosity hair people don't need heavy oil pre poo. Even no prepoo can do. Secondly always used warm water to wash your hair and hair mask should be moisturising and we have to massage the mask in...or it will stay on top of hair shaft. Use heat cap for at least one hour after hair mask. Thirdly while using light hair leave in conditioner...one can use a shower cap for 15 minutes. Helps in absorbtion of moisture. Our main issue is that. Fourthly. Use light hair oils like grape seed after leave in conditioner. Depending on which method one is using. Gel should be diluted. And always always use warm water

I like the fact that inspite of you having high porosity hair....you are bringing in your friends with low porosity hair and asking their experience and even experimenting on their hair.... because that unables us to understand the difference. Sometimes I feel knowing about our hair porosity is more important than anything else. Kindly do make more videos on low porosity hair ... though I understand it is going to be difficult for you....as you will have to rely on experience of others. I truly appreciate your efforts. You are a very intelligent person,. I must say.

Hi Michelle... I'm following this "style next day" routine after you mentioned in your earlier video somewhere...to tell you honestly this made my wash day so much easier and not time consuming...also I prefer detangling when pre poo.. because this way when I wash with shampoo, I feel less hair fall...then dc and style the next day... thank you so much... now I don't feel like wash day as a task... can't thank you enough for this...

That's amazing. You know what, I got so many questions on how to avoid wet detangling. You came up with an amazing video yet again. I had a query. I've been doing a modified version of cg method which works well on my wavy-curly hair. But the only problem is that my hair on back of my head falls flat. It doesn't have much volume and doesn't curl that well either. Any suggestions?
@MichelleManuel2 жыл бұрын
So think of volume as one issue and definition as another issue. If your hair is relatively straight in one area, manipulate like i did in this video. Style it differently. Also focus on curl training that area more. (Squish to condish while conditioning, do a 2 strand twist when deep conditioning, try finger rolling, finger coilng, pin curling. About volume, it's a large subject that requires a totally different video. Root clip, style upside down. Direct the hair away from the scalp when styling upright. Don't use product near the roots. Fluff out your roots properly. Use a root comb to fluff.

@MichelleManuel2 жыл бұрын
Steps taken during styling will help crown volume. A good hair week always starts on washday. If you take adequate steps to get volume on washday, you merely need to fluff out your roots on other days to gain back volume.
@Alkagupta2012 жыл бұрын
Love love love the results ❤️ Question- how can I have symmetrical curls? Some of my curls have more hair where some of them have few. Also, how to give volume to hair at back side, I always feel less volume at back even though I fluff the roots too.
@MichelleManuel2 жыл бұрын
Getting symmetry in your results is a huge challenge. What tends to work for me is using a wide tooth comb. Notice that my denman clumps are much thinner and also thicker than the clumps I formed with the comb. Volume at the back is difficult to get. A good haircut can fix that to a great extent. Also directing the hair off the scalp while styling should help. Upside down styling is also helps.

Hi Swati! I don't know how I missed your comment. I do reply to every single comment i see. But it's possible that I didn't get a notification and therefore didn't reply or that I did reply and you didn't get a notification. Either way I'm sorry I missed it. I understand where you're coming from. Sometimes you just need to chill and not focus on your hair. On some weeks I don't style my hair at all. I just clarify and then condition, wash it off thoroughly and go about the week doing nothing. I use a plastic claw clip during the week and put my hair up in a bun. On other weeks when I don't style I braid my hair up with some leave in conditioner or I braid my hair up with zero product. These are weeks when I'm just at home and plan to workout of do other some other home project. It's totally fine to give yourself a break and relax. When you go back to styling you appreciate the results so much more.
@MichelleManuel2 жыл бұрын
You won't get overload is you remember to clarify once a month and strip your hair of all the product. Try to prolong your washday and maybe go from 4 to 5 to 6 slowly building upto 7 days. Once a week feels way more reasonable effort wise

I have now started following CGM..and feel like I am soon gonna give up😢...you said no products till 2 inches of your scalp, but my baby hairs are so worst they make my whole curly look disaster..what can i do to fix them? Please help 🙏

There's a solution to this. After you take off the plop, you can use a little gel or mousse to pat down frizz at the top sections. Make sure your gel does not contain alcohol. When you sotc you can also use a light oil or serum on the areas that have frizz. When you dc you can also use a scalp safe mask on the top lengths and scalp to moisturise those areas.

Did we have use conditioner after every wash? Also after styling for how many days those the curls remain same and wheather we have to comb them or not? I am your new subscriber and going to start my CGM please help me out I have so many doubts.
@MichelleManuel2 жыл бұрын
I have a video called how to start CGM in India which answers all of these questions in detail. Wash as much as you need to. Your curls last for a day or two. The retention will increase over time. Combing will leave you with a ball of frizz.

Hey.. Long time since last video..❤. I really love the way your hair spirals. I have lost my spirals totally after my last hair cut. I read about curl shock, but mine has taken too long and doesn't seem to get any better. My curls turn wonky after every wash. Any tips here?
@MichelleManuel2 жыл бұрын
I totally relate. I've lost a lot of definition from my haircut. I love the new volume and bounce. But it's a struggle to use the Denman brush. I feel like I end up with some juicy but mostly stringy curls in the front. I'm definitely going to experiment a bit more and try a few other styling routines until I have my length back. I think you could also try a few other routines that involve curl manipulation until you have your definition back.

Hi Michelle, I am new to cgm and your channel. I've been doing your original wavy hair routine (ie. wash and style the same day). This might be a silly question, but using the wash now style later method, how do you get your hair wet the next day? Do you simply spray it down with water or do you step in the shower and wash it with just water? TIA
@MichelleManuel2 жыл бұрын
Hehe. No silly questions. Feel free to ask whenever you have a doubt. You can hop into the shower and simply get your hair wet thoroughly. I presume you will style only after you shower for the day. So it's convenient enough. Or, if you have a powerful spray bottle you could simply spritz your hair down properly. (I recommend going to a gardening supply shop and buying one, they're 10 times more powerful than the spray bottles available on Amazon for haircare).

Goodmorning Michelle ....so here is the query 🙈🙈 2a-2c ,fine hair ,high porosity Whenever I avoid LOG method n go for traditional Leave in and gel my hair drink up everything in 12-15 hours of styling and are frizz ball .... Y does only LOG works for me ? what's role of oil in sealing moisture??...does this mean that my leavin n gel isn't doing its job properly (FMC butter and gel) how do I understand what's need of my hair .... Also regarding Protein moisture balance ..hairstrand test doesn't ever work for me ...on the same day some of my hair behave lacking protein some behave lacking moisture,that's absolute madness 😂😂... but i have noticed protein DC helps me hold my curls better , whereas moisture DC brings a lot of frizz ...so it's always confusing to understand what my hair wants 3rdly what if I have a lot of product racked in and i didn't use oil and LOG ,just used leavein and gel and i have completely dry hair in 12-15 hours of styling and frizz ball on my head ...m i supposed to shampoo all products off and do LOG again or what can be the way to refresh .. I know too much for one go 🙈🙈🙈🙈

No no. I saw it. I had to think about it for a while because it's definitely a question worth asking. The FMC curl quenching hair butter is a heavy product. When used alone (in combination with a gel), it causes frizz. I did also notice that when I use the FMC curl quenching hair butter I see lots of frizz after a few hours for scrunching out the scrunch. It's even worse the second and third day. I did mention this point in my review of the product. So maybe when you use an oil, it helps to seal the cuticle and lay the hair down, reducing the frizz. I don't think you only require the LOG method to make your washday work. I have 2a to 3a high Porosity hair. You'll see that other leave in conditioners do not cause this particular problem. What you need is something to tackle humidity. I'm willing to bet that any heavy leave in conditioner level 3 and upwards will work on your (barring this one ofcourse). Hope I was able to clarify your issue.

@@MichelleManuel Michelle also I feel it's time for you to update your level system video on leavein ..ur store front is updated but there are lot new products that were added ...can you instead share a table /chart with level of leavin and serums ....we can just refer chart n think through all options ....and update it whenever u review a new product ...u r very good in explaining on details so I guess ur chart will be self explanatory ... Shea moisture brand has always fascinated me but m not sure is it level 4or 5 ....tempted but restricting for fear that it might weigh down my hair 🙈🙈..

@@swatiraisuraj your right. I need to do an update. Lots of new products in the market. I'm taking some time to test them out properly. Once I have a good understanding of the levels I'll make a video. The thing is I like to keep all variables the same during my testing process. Same washday lineup. Same gel. Same styling routine. Sadly I haven't had enough washdays to test everything with the same baselines because I've been focusing on new gels and conditioners. I'll need quite a bit of time to get back with my findings on leave in conditioners. :(

I am 46 years old having grey hair, I use Garnier hair color(natural brown), now my question is, I want to follow CGM as I am having 3C type hair. Can it it work on coloured hair. As you said after colouring hair, they won't breathing. So in this condition can if I follow your instructions will it is useful or I should avoid coloring please suggest
@MichelleManuel2 жыл бұрын
CGM does not allow hair colouring. I do colour my hair because I don't follow all the rules. You can definitely colour your hair and style it on the same day. The process will be very very long and tiring but you want to or have to do it, then go for it. No reason why it shouldn't work.

I love how you explain every little detail in all of your videos...I lose crazy amount of hair when I detangle my hair in the shower. So I have switched to detangling them dry after applying oil on the lengths....The hair part widening is very much true...my mom has been parting her hair in the center for years and the part is widening with age...Also thankyou for all the efforts you put into your videos♥
@MichelleManuel2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for sharing. Pre shower detangling seems ideal but it just doesn't work for my hair. There would be way too much breakage and not enough slip since I only do my routine once a week. It could work for people who use soft or medium hold gels, people with shorter hair or people who wash their hair frequently. Remember to clarify frequently as the oil on your lengths may cause lots of buildup over time.
@dikshitav77222 жыл бұрын
@@MichelleManuel No, I didn't mean pre-shower, I apply light(post shampoo) oil on the length when dry after shower( I style them the next day) I have long hair as well and I wash once a week. Yeah, thanks 😊

@@dikshitav7722 ahhh okay. You know what? I read this comment and I thought you meant you detangle during your prepoo stage. I thought over it and decided to I try it once again. Because in theory it sounded simple enough. My ripped out so much hair in the process. Maybe detangling pre shower just doesn't work for my hair type. Detangling post shampoo and conditioner on dry hair with a bit of oil sounds much more promising. Its a great idea. Totally makes sense. Thanks for clarifying. :)

Hello Michelle, so the one thing that i get confused with is the amount of gel and leave in to use. I think i end up using more and then still have frizz, but i guess, i will learn as i go ahead in this journey

In the beginning i used to struggle with this too. There's no standard amount of product. Start with a coin size amount and then add or reduce from there based on what your results look like.

Taming frizz comes with time. It's not easy to tackle frizz when you're transitioning. With enough time and practice, the frizz becomes minimal.

Amazing! But, do we have to do this everytime after shower to get such defined curls? Or is there any possibility of defined curls eventually without applying products.. someone do answer this!
@MichelleManuel2 жыл бұрын
I do this once a week only. If you're looking for a routine that involves frequent styling, I wouldn't recommend this complex a routine. Go for something simple like the following routine. kzbin.info/www/bejne/q4Gxd2Ctiq1qhdE Even if you're following the routine I've posted above, I would say do this once in 2- 3 days only. This shouldn't be any everyday thing. If you're going product free, you don't see this kind of gloss and definition.
