Gemini FoilPress - Review & Play | The Card Grotto

Hello there, today I have a review of the Gemini FoilPress machine to share with you, plus I am sharing how to use it in a few different ways. The machine is definitely an investment piece, but I love it! It is easy to use and I love that I can use it with my already large stash of dies.

Really great review and nice to see how easy it is to use given you’ve never used it before. I agree that its potential lies in being able to use it with all the Dies you currently have - imagine all those word dies! Looking forward to seeing what else to make with it. I like the GoPress&foil machine better. It doesn’t have all those buttons so it’s easier to use and it can be used with almost every Die cut machines! It’s $53 at Joann!

Hello Michelle I bought mine in may and not used it only to try . I have a frame and put my husbands initials in the middle .. forgot to put paper on so now I have the plastic board for the large Gemini machine with his initials in gold on it but thank you for showing me HOW to use it properly So! I shall have an other go later and let you know how I get on as I do want to start making Christmas cards . I shall watch you again as you sound good when your saying how to do it

Hey Michelle...I had no idea that CC even had a hot foil system so this was a lovely surprise. I've been looking at other systems as well but I still need to do a lot more research before I get to the point where I would purchase one. I have to think about the 'real estate' in my craft room and as well, how much I think I would use it. Like you, I do not do a lot of foiling except I may use it for Xmas projects. In saying all this, I would have to be convinced that a hot foil system is even worth the expense as I've learned from past purchases that there is no sense in purchasing something, especially with a higher price tag, that is only going to be used 'once in a blue moon'. As we all know, the craft industry is constantly and consistently coming out with new products so 'time' may be my friend here as I can imagine what a future hot foil system would look like, ie more user friendly, more convenient, and more compact. Really appreciate the review Michelle!

Nancy Lynn thank you so much for watching, Nancy. I agree with your comment completely. At this moment in time, I’m not sure where it will go, so that’s definitely something to think about. Personally, I think I prefer the look of foil using this machine than using toner etc as it’s more subtle and much more my style but yes, you need to think about how much you are actually going to use it! please note if you have the large Gemini die cutting machine you will need to buy the extender plate which can then be used with the bigger machine. you can not use the small platform foil press in the large machine.

Awe Michelle thank you for sharing you are great its just that I am having trouble getting my foil machine to a Happy Birthday die and its only doing the outside not filling it in any chance letting me know why thank you.

Patricia Foulstone silly question but are you definitely using a die/plate designed for foiling? It sounds like the die is made to foil the outside only because otherwise it would foil where the protruding bit of the design is. If it’s a standard cutting die you are using then it will only foil the outside/outline. It’s difficult for me to see without seeing the die but I hope that helps and thank you for watching.

Man I wish they would send me one to try and share info. I have watch the creativations craft show and watch the lady use this machine and I was blown away, it was so cool and I need one. I have a big die cutting machine but think I need to get a die cutting machine as well as it would be easier to get this smaller machine out. Like that you can you use own die cuts and it does foil good coverage, your snowflake needed more pressure and the lady I watch used few shims, not sure if you have redid this video as I just found it today. Thanks for sharing

I am sorry for the delay, Deborah. Do you mean using a background die? You would just put the die on the machine and heat foil it as you would any other die. Thank you for watching :)

Hello Michelle; I just bought this product but I have a regular Gemini am I able to use it with that? It does not seem to accept the platform, does that mean I need a Gemini Junior? I sure hope not.

Karen S hi Karen, thank you so much for watching. You need the Gemini Foilpress Extender and then you can use it in your regular Gemini machine.

A tip I found out by error, don't carry the unit by the handle of the part that gets run through the Gemini jr. If you do, you will drop the unit onto the floor. Luckily, it didn't hurt it. Phew!!!

Hi Michelle I have the larger Gemini and use the extender plate, my problem is I seem to be getting a lot of foil residue on my finished imprint, the foil die works well but I don't know why I am getting all this foil residue around the die imprint. I am using stampin up cardstock and I don't know if it is a 300gsm?? I tried the one die that cut and it did perfectly. Please canyou help. I'm in Australia.
