michel how many steps does the equation have to be multiplied by 90%?

Yes, if only 90% of the dose given is retained by the body, then the final result should be multiplied by 0.9

Hello sir, maybe my question comes too late for this video, but I thought I have to ask. Why did you calculate the number of nuclei? Doesn't the activity (30 microCi) already contain the information of decay/sec for whatever radioactive substance we have? I repeated the calculation directly from the activity value and got 0.48 mSv. This is of course for the 90% fraction.

@Michel VB - I am enjoying your presentations. Yet you start this 'example' with a VAGUE (unnamed) ISOTOPE - merely stating its radioactive value (dose) = 30micro Curies and a 1/2life of 5days - - Well, I think that's a deliberate OMISSION. I would guess the isotope would either be Calcium-47 or Manganese-52 which would (respectively) decay to stable Tin-47 after x2 Beta- decays, and Chromium-52 via the more complex B+ radiation decay - i.e. proton into a neutron and a positron (e+) and an electron neutrino. . However,... it is my contention that, you do not even consider in your calculations, the continued decays beyond the FIRST 1/2life - when at 10x1/2life-times (50days) these decaying isotopes & their daughters (where applicable) continue to decay the remaining fractional quantities, and you do not consider these continued damaging decays,... as a TOTAL SUMMATION. (10x 1/2 lives = 0.999 of TOTAL decays) . Also,... When ingesting or injecting these radioactive isotopes into the SOFT TISSUE areas or FLUIDS of the body, they would have a GREATER & more DIRECT damaging effect TO EACH CELL they encounter or they bombard with EACH of their decay emissions. . I deeply suspect the BACKGROUND AVERAGES and non-specific evaluations (averages) you use as a basis of your calculations,... and do not seem to differentiae between natural isotopes versus refined man-made synthetic ones. . Chemists creed for contamination: - The solution,... to pollution,... is dilution. . And I fear there is a deliberate MAGICIANS HAND being used in this deception. QUESTIONS: - Would you drink a LITER of Tritium water from Fukushima holding tanks ??? - After all there's ONLY an additional H molecule. !! (H3+O ) - How often would one be able to repeat drinking said H3+O liter safely ??? - i.e. recommended daily or weekly intake - What would be the maximum repeat doses one would/should ever take on a regular basis, based on the previous 2 questions ?? .
