that philco console you hauled home is like one I had as a kid on the farm. kind of a gutless wonder but better than nothing.

most old radios are gutless wonders some do have special features that make them worth having.

I thought that old switchboard was what Uhura used for comms. :-) Nice video. I saw quite a few things that I remember from way back when.

I have one of those bell 2200c mono amps and the 5881 tubes sound just fine in it. no need for 6l6gc as the amp can not put out more power with them anyway. what is unique about the bell amp is the ab1 bias. the the output tubes share a cathode resistor and the power supply bleeder hooks to the cathodes. thus driving the bias up a bit to reduce the output idle current. cleaver. this is a very nice amp in stock form. when I found mine it had 6v6 output tubes and they were really running hot. not red plate but hot. amazing what a 6v6 can take. I have a bogen challenger CHA-20 paging amp rated at 20watts and it uses 6v6 output tubes. the amp will make 20w rms and the tubes are taking it ok. the designers just pushed them hard.

I really enjoy watching these videos of all the events you go to.... I wish they were longer!! I wish I was there!! Btw Terry, I am curious what your favorite episode of Star Trek is? As you obviously are a fan of the series...... Mine is the one when McCoy overdoses on LSD or something and Kirk must let Edith Keeler (Joan Collins) get hit by a truck to prevent Nazi's from winning WW2..... Take care

You spent more time on a toy tractor than ANY radio. Would be better to stop at receivers and read off THE NAME AND MODEL NUMBER.
