Michigan had one of the best Strength Coaches in college football in Ben Herbert but he left and when Harbaugh left for the chargers. Prior to Michigan he was at Arkansas and Wisconsin. Herbert played at Wisconsin and had Wisconsin going strong. He had a fullback named Chris Pressley who at 6ft tall ans 255lb could back squat 600 lbs with just a belt for 12 reps and has squatted 770lbs . At Wisconsin he was a big 5/3/1 guy with 6 lifts. Power Clean. Trap Bar Deadlift. Back Squat. Push Press. Bench Press. Pendlay Row. Kids dont want to be developed because all they care about is money.

I am an Ohio State alum, and I agree with you. Bigger, stronger, faster--they all still matter, especially for the o-line. To say I'm disappointed about our loss, wow... It's incumbent on Coach Day and his staff to do whatever it takes within the rules--including developing first and second-string players with the necessary depth, strength, and conditioning--to beat Michigan. And do it every single goddamn year.

I remember the Uni of Nebraska (I'm not a Husker fan just a CFB fan) used to dominate in the trenches back in the early to mid 90s because of their weight training program; you had to at least have a 450 bench/600 squat to even make the 3 deep on the oline/dline depth chart.

You guys are very good at continuing to get guys strong at the times where you may have very little time with the athletes. I love college sports. But come on, its getting crazy that Ryan Day is getting paid over thirty million dollars. Who knows how much is being spent in NIL deals. You can lead a horse to water.... Honestly, there's very little to work with among the current generation of football players. They're undersized and under-powered from growing up with modern technology and poor diets. Then, NIL and the transfer portal stripped the heart out of the game and completely erased the entire concept of commitment. I've played and coached for over 30yrs. Nothing I have in my toolbox will work to motivate the players in the current environment. Why would a player work to develop when there's another HC just around the corner that will take a chance and send NIL money their way? Ohio State is the more talented team without question; they had every advantage. So, how did a pretty bad UM team come into the Buckeye's home and smother them? Heart, vs a complete lack of it. It's cool, though. Those Buckeyes will be out partying tonight on their NIL money like the game never happened.

What a silly hot take. So if OSU strokes your ego they would have won? They beat two top 5 ranked teams this year. They lost to the number one team by a point. Not going to you isn’t the problem. You said Urban Meyer didn’t go to you yet he won as many national championships at OSU as Jim Tressel. So what’s your point.
