Michigan City, Indiana - South Shore Freight and Passenger Trains - 2023

A morning on November 7th, 2023 finds several trains in Michigan City, Indiana. First, CSS #2000 (GP38-2) switching cars in the yard at Carrol Avenue. We also find motive power for the southbound Chicago, South Shore Freight doubling their train.
Power for the southbound train is CSS #2006, #2008, and NICD #1000 (all GP38-2). Talk about a lot of smoke!
We finish our stop at the newly constructed 11th Street Train Station, and the one way road which replaced the street running in Michigan City, Indiana. The station has two sets of switch tracks which allow passenger trains closer to the station platform, and allow freight trains more distance from the platforms.

What is that long structure going across 2006s cab roof?. Ive seen this on several other locos of SSF. I've been looking for an answer LOL . Great video!
