"JUNE 1, 2024: NOURISH CO-OP HAS A CEASE & DESIST ORDER FROM THE GOVERNMENT AND AT THIS TIME IS NOT ABLE TO SELL RAW CHEESE, RAW DAIRY, SOURDOUGH & RAW HONEY. We are working through the details and will keep everyone updated as we get more information."
Nourish Cooperative is a farm cooperative of several small regenerative farms located in Southwest Michigan that is currently under cease & desist by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) for the possession and sale of raw dairy products.
On Tuesday, May 28, 2024, Nourish Cooperative was raided by the government due to the sale of raw dairy. Over $90,000 worth of product was placed under seizure, meaning this product can not be sold, moved, or utilized whatsoever. Due to the "cease and desist", countless orders had to be refunded and canceled, and at this time, several products under seizure will be going to waste due to the government's hold on them.
Several of Nourish Cooperative's partner farms rely solely on Nourish as a market for their dairy products. The wellbeing and livelihood of these small family farms are in jeopardy as Nourish is currently unable to source and sell these products.

There is no guarantee unpasteurized milk is 100% safe but pasteurized milk increases the chances of safety. According to the literature, there is no evidence unpasteurized milk is 100% safe. when it comes to public safety the State will win every time in the courts

It’s funny when you say that you don’t know if the government has the power to regulate private transactions. The war on drugs has definitely set the precedent that the government does have the power to regulate private transactions and what people put in their bodies. Not sure why this isn’t obvious to you. I don’t think it’s right but they have the power to do it.

And no I'm not just talking of hemp fiber. Banning hemp fiber forced Canadians and Americans in Northern States to be dependent on cotton that could only be produced in the deep south. Farmers knew how to use plant medicine for their farm animals, they didn't run to pharma like a bunch of transplants.

Its just classic scale tipping, nothing that interesting. But it demonstrates a means to deceive the spreadsheets and cook the books so that the entire company can push the same coordinated agenda. I don't want muscle milk, lactose milk, almond milk nor do I want to choose between 20+ different american based flour products that won't ever get me a proper pizza nor any pie. Michigan has a “right to farm act” it’s supposed to protect agricultural activities from local ordinances, zoning, and overreach. It actually looks great on paper. Sadly those expected to enforce the act are the ones overreaching, persecuting, and shutting down. Worked at city hall for 30 years and had to refer to state laws and rules and can say that Michigan has rules that directly break their own laws and state constitution. Legislative system is a serious mess, they just make things up with rules, no consistency with their own laws and no respect of their own constitution. We constantly butted heads with the state at our office over rules that didn’t match up to laws.

The criminalization of farming started in 1957 with the passage of the Grade A dairy laws. Lots of farms sold their cows then. That was when dairy farms started expanding because they had to have more cows to pay for the improvements required to keep their permit. We are inspected by three entities. MDA, USDA, and Michigan Milk Producers Association. The MMPA is there to help us market a better product. The other two are there to get you. As far as quality. Milk is tested every day for antibiotics, butterfat, Somatic Cell Count, Raw bacteria count, and preincubed count. There is Zero tolerance for antibiotics. Somatic Cell Count tells what the herd health is like. Raw count tells how clean the cows are and how clean of a job people are doing when they milk the cows and the pre incubated count tells is how clean the milking equipment is. Our dairy get paid premiums for milk quality. Frankly I don't know how anyone can stay in the dairy business without achieving those quality premiums. The state of Michigan is as corrupt as they come. Their products were stolen by the state. Their fourth amendment rights were violated.

@@JJ-jn5lr organic or not, the equipment is going to have to be cleaned in a similar manner. Our system has a rinse cycle, soap cycle, acid rinse cycle and then about a half hour before the next milking, a sanitizing rinse cycle. The equipment at the creamery and the milk truck will use a similar process. What you are probably tasting is a different feed from organic cows vs confined cows. Organic require pasture access for so many months out of the year. Because most confined dairies feed haylage and corn silage along with high moisture corn, soybean meal and what ever commodities they have access to, these feeds have an aroma that can effect the favor of the milk. If the cows got into an onion patch the milk would pick that up. This is why we actually feed our cows only once a day. When they leave the milking parlor in the morning, they have fresh feed for the day. I will say I would much rather drink our milk from the tank raw and unhomogenized than I would store bought milk. Also our milk would keep at least ten days unpasteurized, milk going to the store has to have a longer shelf life.

These attacks on small farms have me concerned for my herd share. I have had 2 herd shares over a couple of decades & never had a problem. The current share is direct from the farm, so I know it's a clean & ethical operation as I visit there every time I get meat, etc. My health is far better from eating local & animal based.

I was very sick as a child. Had to be on a very restricted diet due to severe allergies. My great-grandparents had a cow and raised bees. Guess what I was given. They were adults of the depression. Grew most of their food still as a way of life. I ate as close to the plant or animal as possible because of my G. Grandparents. I am a very healthy adult and I honestly feel it is because of their philosophy of eating as close to the natural food source. To this day I still grow most of my produce and eat single ingredient foods, I dont buy boxed foods, works for me.

MEXICO CITY, June 7 (Reuters) - A man who contracted bird flu in Mexico died due to chronic diseases and not the virus, Mexico's health ministry said on Friday. Earlier this week, the World Health Organization reported the first laboratory-confirmed human case of infection with A(H5N2) avian influenza in Mexico. In a Friday press conference in Geneva, WHO spokesman Christian Lindmeier described the man's case as a "multifactorial death" and noted that experts were still investigating whether he was infected by someone or by contact with animals. Mexico's health ministry on Friday stressed that the 59-year-old man's death was due to chronic conditions that led to septic shock, and was not attributed to the virus.

Yes, there's overreach all over, not only by the government but by government and big agriculture banding together. But sometimes things can be surprisingly easy and surprisingly so in my own country, Germany, where I happen to be a member of a projekt of "Community Supported Agriculture". We keep dairy cattle ourselves (pasture going, 20 head milking cows). Of course we drink our own raw milk (160 members). The only thing we have to do to make it legal, is to sign an official note when we become members, stating that we know raw milk can be dangerous if not heated up. It says the same thing on our automatic outlet for external byers. And that's it. So sometimes miracles happen - even in regulation ridden Germany. By the way - spent a year of my life in the Wolverine State, myself - and on a farm for that matter..All the best for the Nourish Co-op!

Some states even allow prostitution they’re going to save our lives through regulating the small farms that cater to people who want things organic and natural, and are willing to take whatever risks, it’s all about control. It’s all about keeping us under their thumb. It’s OK to be stupid and do things that everyone knows are unhealthy dangerous and unsafe will shorten your lifespan possibly kill you with no benefit. Those things are OK but do something that actually has some history and some evidence, being very healthy if done correctly and you can’t do that what a crock we’re supposed to be a free country. The "concern" of raw milk isn't really consumer based - most never thought about it much. It's the government in a tizzy, and that because dr Birx PCR testing program has shifted from humans to animals inside the fda - but its the exact same game. If the PCR machine is set higher than 32 counts... they are up to no good, and trying to manufacture bogus stats. And we know that because 32 was the ceiling for "positive" samples accepted by CDC during the delta/omicron transition of covid circus where breakthrough cases began emerging in significant numbers. 45 cycles [as was promulgated to lab techs prior] is apparently something close to a 99% error rate.

I don't understand why we need to government to "protect" us in what we choose to eat or drink. They let people drink alcohol and smoke cigarettes. While those things are not good for our body, it's a person's choice to consume whatever they want in a FREE country, which we are not. We are NOT free and we need to acknowledge that or this will get worse. I can't remember ever needing to ask the government for their permission to eat what I want, so no, we don't need them to "protect" us. The only thing they are supposed to protect are our borders. That's it. But Communists want to control every facet of our lives. We have got to understand that. This is not for our own good. God gave us brains to figure that out ourselves. This is evil at its core.

One issues I have is that "people" are using "data" from one system to assess another very different, not comparable system. Especially when the data highlights issues that are inherent to the manner in which the first system operates, a manner that is completely different from the way the second system operates. What's also very disturbing is the fact that the data, from the first system, highlights very serious issues (which exist so often and at such high levels in that system that consuming food from that system would be dangerous for consumers) and which require their implementation of some equally serious measures (like heating the food so much that all life in it is killed in order to kill the bad stuff, or "washing" the food with acids to do the same). Even more upsetting than that, is that our government hasnt stopped to consider "is a system which creates such unhealthy situations and require such equaly unhealthy processes, the right thing to do?" Is there a better way to feed people and produce healthy and nutritious food?" (Of course not bc that wouldn't line the pockets of big ag or the pharmaceutical industry which makes money from keeping humans and animals sick and who in turn pay them). Even more disturbing is that there is evidence of this out there and there are people who are seeking it and finding it (studies have shown links to health issues due to these practices and many people have been healed of diseases bc they started a "raw or unprocessed " food lifestyle) and this truth is being snuffed out at an alarming pace. And so our government chooses to chase those who are using those processes that are known not to have the same issues as big ag, under the guise that they have to "fix" problems they actually don't have (no one has reported sickness from the farms they are trying to close). All the while the government continues to remove liabilities from big corporations and giving them our money to promote those very practices that are not healthy and very often dangerous for "consumers". It's like a bad dream.
