Agreed. Call me when actual starters leave. Waller Jr. and Herring are the most upsetting, but I won't lose sleep over two guys that were going to be backups. LB Cole Sullivan might be partially responsible for both Beasely and Herring leaving lol. Meanwhile, as good as Waller Jr may have looked this spring, he was still going to be behind Johnson, Hill, and McBurrows on the depth chart. Hill was a monster in the spring game. Waller was on the field when Frederick Moore outran the entire defense across and down the field.

Additionally, Sullivan doesn’t even crack the 3 deep at LB that was tentatively released…either way it’s a depth issue not necessarily a top end starter issue.

I agree 100%! Michigan will be fine, they do take care of the players who are on the 1's and 2's. As far as the freshman who just arrived in A2, I think a base salary would be a great place to start. At least then they're not thinking if they don't start they won't make any money. But when you see that OSU lost 13 in January, and we just lost 3 and it's going to be May soon, it doesn't look all that bad. But it still sucks to see these 4☆ freshman leave.

50k a year per player is about 2.75 mil a year. Close to that I just cant recall how many on the team. That is pay to play. I'm sure we could do this and then have NIL when players earn it and market them selfs. On another note, there are lots of kids in the portal.

Look bro I'm not panncing at all yet this should still be an elite defense with a lot of running back depth Dherome Moore just has to do a good job filling in the holes as he see fits I don't really see this as major losses I think the 4 at linebacker are set in stone as for Waller and Henning I'd like those to get 1 more at each position for depth purposes anyway.

I don't see how this affects the starting lineup. Yes, it hurts to lose depth but that can be overcome with incoming players like Joziah Edmonds and Andrew Sprague. Cole Sullivan looks like a future star on defense too so I'm not really worried. As far as I can see, Michigan is one of the few top programs that is mostly relying on players they developed in-house. I believe that still will carry them a long way in 2024.

There needs to be profit sharing. B10 and SEC players should automatically get somewhere between $50k - $100k, something the 2 conferences need to get together to agree on. All other NIL cannot come from the schools. The other 2 power conferences players should get $25k - $50k per player. This is because of the big difference in TV rights money between them. The rest of the conferences should be in the $5k - $10k range depending on what they make. The B10 and SEC (and other 2 "powers" if they want) should form their own governing body to come up with NIL, portal, and other recruiting rules. The NCAA has become completely useless and should be left out. Their rule should be left to academic eligibility and scholarships. Revenue sharing should be involved and both should agree to portal rules such as not poaching players from each other in the spring (something the SEC already does) and limit the number of penalty free transfers to 1 or 2 per player. This should eliminate the constant free agency and pat for play garbage we're seeing but still give the kids opportunities to improve their situations. There's still time to fix this before it gets completely out of hand. The way it's going recruitment is going to be how much can me and I go to the highest bidder. Then every season after the school's have to do it all over again as they all go fishing for more money. It'll ruin college football and destroy the things that make it special and unique and I'd hate to see it.

I’ll just be honest if we had to pay players who hadnt proven that they are worth it as a true freshman I wouldn’t want that player. Herring and wahler may have legit gripes if they were promised something and didn’t get it. But everyone knows Michigan isn’t promising hs recruits nil deals before they hit campus. Nor should they. At the end of they day they a purchasing something from you with those deals that you may or may not be able to deliver on. It’s unreasonable to expect someone to pay you anything with nothing to go off of but hs tape. And further more if a program is willing to pay for that they are a subpar/ underachieving program, I’ll die on that hill.

As a former college athlete I love NIL as a fan of the Michigan wolverines I hate NIL😂 Ohio State had 13 kids jum0 in the portal in January we have 3 after a Spring game one is a freshman linebacker who's never proved a damb thing. The second is a cornerback who is probably seeing that he's going to lose his job and needs to get out of town cause he wants to make it to the pros.The third I never even heard of him. The school that first offered this kid spent a scholarship offer they can't get back. The kid accepted the offer. Therefore, stay at least two years before you can leave for another Div I program. Otherwise, sit a year or go play for Montana State.
