Active Duty Police Standard? Crazy stuff Rider. Very nice explanation and shooting as always. I would have failed which is why I moved to Ohio for permit less carry lol.

The only Michigan requirement for concealed carry permits (initial, not renewal - LEOSA is different) is three hours range time, during which the applicant must fire 30 shots with no specification for target, score, distance, etc. There is no qualification required. However, at my range we won't give the certificate of completion until the student scores 70% on our qualification course. I'll be doing that one in the near future.

The different State standards for LEOSA qualification are interesting. In NC, the daylight qualification course for score starts with 8 shots fired cold from 25 yards (4 prone then 4 standing) before transitioning to various distances between the 25 and the 3 yard line. After the daylight course, the retiree shoots a daylight combat course which seems to be just pass/fail. After dark, there is a “low light” combat course (again pass/fail) followed by a “low light” qualification course for score with distances ranging from 3 to 15 yards. The retiree must pass both the daylight and low light qualification courses. The make & model of the firearm the retiree used to qualify is the one listed on the LEOSA card. Thanks for posting your video. I enjoyed it as always.

Wow. The NC LEOSA standards are what active duty standards should be - at the very least. Thanks for watching and sharing the information.

@@RidersRange I can’t guarantee that every LEOSA course instructor in NC adheres this closely to the state standards but the instructor I use prides himself on meeting all requirements 100%. It makes for a long range day but in the end you feel like you passed a legitimate qualification course.

Always like seeing different qualifications done, seems like this one would be a breeze to shoot, and you showed that with such tight groups with something as small as the CSX! Cheers from Pennsylvania!

It's the "duty" handgun course, so maybe I should try it with an actual "duty" handgun - blindfolded? Thanks for watching.
@thereloadingcraft14 күн бұрын
@ haha, I think you could still ace it blindfolded and shooting support hand only 😂

Retired Tx LEO here. Just shot my annual LEOSA qual a few weeks ago. Although I could qual with the local SO I drive 140 miles each way to qual with the agency I retired from. It's a good chance to catch up with the other geezers and compare notes on medical issues. Qual itself is stupid easy (30 rounds at 3-10 yards, one reload and one reaction hand string). It's the same qual course used by active duty for off duty carry. Like your staggered target distances. Thanks to Bush 1 for signing LEOSA into law.

Cheers....staggered distance targets at end is neat most state quals don't have that....I just timed a fair hk caliber battle check it

Very interesting. Kinda makes me wish I was a retired officer. Seems rather easy to accomplish and makes me wonder just how well the average officer does

This may draw some heat, but from what I've experienced over the past 50 years, most police officers a) aren't the least bit interested in guns, and b) can't shoot for beans. Three shots in a silhouette at ten yards - in one minute? And that's for "marksmanship"? Come on.
@craigromack615614 күн бұрын
@RidersRange I agree. I may not be a master, but i can do quite well. Even with a 3" revolver
@RidersRange14 күн бұрын
@craigromack6156 I'm sure you could pass this course with your revolver, even shooting full-house .357Mag ammo.

I wonder if I could do that with a jframe and some speed strips. Interesting video and nice barricade.
@RidersRange14 күн бұрын
I bet you could. You would just have to reload before you were empty a few times. I may have to try it.

For duty weapon qualification, some type of practical National standard would be nice, preferably a little more challenging than this course. Thanks for watching.
