A company that pays zero taxes still benefits from additional tax breaks. This is how we have several large corporations paying negative taxes. The difference between tax breaks and subsidies is trivial. The end result is the same: more money for the corporation and less for the government.

"There's good reason why the conviction rates for large corporations has nosedived after the regulatory agencies were instituted. (They were installed to do the opposite)." == Where did you find this?

First, tax breaks are NOT subsidies. Subsidies are extra money given to companies from the government. It would still benefit them if they paid ZERO taxes. Not a reduction in taxes they normally have to pay.

"I'd say the majority did decide, and voted with their feet." I'd completely agree with that.

I think that Good Jobs First should Quantify all of these Megadeals and do a video explaining how many Middle Class Jobs that it should have provided compared to how many they actually did provide. Maybe even, if it is possible compare the Executive Bonuses of Megadeal Corporations vs. Non-Megadeal Corporations, or even Megadeal Corporations when they get a Megadeal as opposed to when they are not getting a Megadeal. Now that would be a really interesting, informative video.

Taxes are paid to provide the things the people need. Schools, roads, snow removal and so on. By giving corporations tax breaks this strains the pool of money used for these services. Continued tax breaks while operating costs continue to rise drains the pool that much quicker. In the end, the corporations have made large profits at the expense of the people who have paid these taxes. So what benefit is there to anyone except the corporations for these tax breaks? No one.

A simple solution to corporations evading taxes, fair wages and fair benefits. If they don't pay taxes, fair wages and offer decent benefits, they get no license to do business.

We need the regulatory agencies to actually do their job, enforce regulation. There used to be firewalls to prevent conflicts of interests. Unfortunately these so called regulatory agencies are revolving doors between private and public. It's hard to tell where the regulatory agency ends and the corporation begins because they all just switch hats and shake hands. One hand washes the other and that's why no one goes to jail and pay a million dollar fine on a billion dollar theft by fraud.

If you don't understand that the only thing that government sudsidies and government tax breaks have in common is the word "government", then perhaps you shouldn't speak at all. A subsidy is when the government takes money by force from one entity and gives it to another, a tax break is when the government takes less money by force.

Second making the argument that Detroit suffered b/c people moved away from an area with harsher arbitrary rules to a place with nicer arbitrary rules only b/c the other place was "wrong" for having less rules. This would be like North Korea blaming it's poor situation on more successful countries, and that those other countries should be doing things the "right" way. (The North Korean way.) If a country has less laws/taxes but still order enough that ppl prefer it, that's GOOD.

They should, they take enough of ours! Then they turn around and waste it on bs.

Bribing thousands of people is orders of magnitude harder than a handful. There's good reason why the conviction rates for large corporations has nosedived after the regulatory agencies were instituted. (They were installed to do the opposite). You do realize that idea to create (and the push) regulatory bodies have come from the largest corporations?

It's funny when he says "taxes aren't really moving the needle." Then proceeds to list what employers "want". You ask actual employers (which the real news never seems to have on) and you get the opposite answer. Yes taxes are a huge factor, moving into an area of people is nice, but we can often find or train people we need otherwise. If you were doing story on football, you'd interview the football players. But when it's economics, you interview the armchair quarterbacks.

So you define negative taxes as subsidies. Got it. You made the difference even more trivial. I'd say the majority did decide, and voted with their feet.
