You must do a trip North and/or the upper peninsula. It is an absolute gem and a must see. You also need to see the motor city, Detroit! I grew up in Holland, I didn't appreciate it growing up, i wanted to be in a big city haha but I sure do miss it now. It was so cool to to see this video! My Mom used to work I'm Dutch Village carving candles at Holland House Candles. Great video. Glad I discovered the channel!

Looks like a fun place to see. I'm originally from Michigan but have lived in Florida for 30 years now. You really need to visit Mackinac island. It is a sweet little town that doesn't allow cars on the island...only bikes and horses. It also has the best homemade fudge in the world! ❤

As a local I really think you should come back again this year or next year to see the festival full scale, to see the dancers at centennial park and the beach and immersion gardens. With tulip lane and so much more. This was such a cool video to stumble across.

Hey I went to Holland went to Amsterdam in 1994 and it was absolutely a hood I loved every minute of it and I even learned to speak some netherlanders for the trip. Cc Did you know Holland city Michigan was rated the happiest community/city in America? Holland also have heated streets and sidewalks all through their downtown and now expanding to their neighborhoods. No need to plow snow or salt the streets and sidewalks. 1st to do in America...to add, Holland Michigan has the largest Dutch population in America too.

Not Brent but Jennifer here!! My home state and my hubbie, Brent's, home town!! FYI if you think the wooden shoes are uncomfortable to try on Nat, think about being in the high scool marching band!! Their band will wear wooden shoes in parades! Sorry you didn't find a Durch restaurant for dinner but glad you went to a brewery. Also fun fact, Holland use to be a dry city where there was no alcohol sales at all until just a number of years ago, no beer cheese, lol. Glad you had a good time! My favorite video was New Orleans because it shaped our 1st trip there and made my daughter's birthday a great day!

That still worked under MS Dos. I was quite active in that and then got a lot of questions from Holland, Michigan. Curious, that they were to the land of their ancestors. A possibility that they never had before.

You guys are so cute! 🥰 I'm from Holland (Michigan) so this was really fun to watch! Did you make it to Windmill Island? That's another fun experience. 🥰 Tulip Time usually involves a lot more than just tulips. There are usually groups of Dutch dancers who perform up and down 8th street and in Centennial Park at multiple scheduled times during the week, there are several parades, there is a kids carnival called "kinderplaats," there are more beautiful tulip gardens at Window on the Waterfront, there are food vendors all over the place... and a lot more! (Covid has really stifled the festival these last 2 years, unfortunately.) Did you make it to the Holland State Park beach? That's not part of Tulip Time but it's a "must" for anyone visiting Holland. 😊 Anyway... thanks for the fun review of my little home town! All of my great-grandparents are from the Netherlands so living in this town is a fun reminder of my heritage! 🥰

If you do make it here again, the state park is a must-see! 🥰 We have a very unique lighthouse. In terms of authentic Dutch food (or our probably Americanized version of), I think DeBoer Bakery (where you ate) might be the only place to get it. I wish there were more restaurants around here that make it! But there is a restaurant in town called Crazy Horse that has a wide variety of food options on their menu and it's excellent! I would definitely check out Windmill Island too, like I mentioned. It's sort of tricky to find but there are road signs downtown that point you in the right direction. That's where the windmill is (hence the name of the island). It is from the Netherlands. It was dismantled there and shipped here. 😊

So.....I've heard that the wooden shoes are actually pretty comfortable, what did you think? I haven't tried any, so just curious. Also, Matt, I have to patience either when it comes to stroop waffles and I end up dipping them in my coffee. Yum! So you went in the spring, can you say when? Were you there for the festival, which I''m sure they have at some point. Another destination road trip for us! You guys should check out Pella, IA sometime. They have a tulip festival there too!!

I would say that they're not as unpleasant as you would think, but comfortable definitely isn't a word that I'd use to describe them! Lol... The dancers at Nelis' Dutch Village said that they wear 5-10 pairs of socks so that their feet didn't hurt while walking around and dancing in them! 🤣 Haha... I'm right there with you! I try to be patient, but it typically never lasts that long! Lol... Yes, we were there on May 4th, 2021 during their "Tulip TIme" festival. Oh, that's awesome! Maybe we'll get to check Pella out sometime! -Matt

Just found your channel. Enjoying it! From Mississippi. Have been to Michigan in summer, stayed in Holland one night, I think in July, as we were heading to extreme northern Michigan to see Lake Superior. Were y’all in Holland for the Tulip Festival in early May, or later? Would like to see them but would prefer to go later than early May. Not sure how long they bloom. Thanks

Man, this is really cool! We recently visited Frankenmuth, MI - which is famous as the state's "little Bavaria!" Similarly, they FULLY embrace their heritage, and it's amazing! Yes Frankenmuth is famous, attraction crowds from around the globe. Did you know Holland city Michigan was rated the happiest community/city in America? Holland also have heated streets and sidewalks all through their downtown and now expanding to their neighborhoods. No need to plow snow or salt the streets and sidewalks. 1st to do in America...to add, Holland Michigan has the largest Dutch population in America too.

What an insanely small world. I just recently watched your Alabama travel vlog. I enjoyed the vibe you all shared and decided to check out your other videos (since my boyfriend and I travel often). The most unexpected coincidence was just discovered!! Turns out we sat right behind you at Deboer Bakkerii! It instantly hit me that you all looked familiar to me! Thinking back to that breakfast, I remember Matt pulling out a camera with a large lens and saying to my partner "they must be youtubers or something". And noticing Matt's long hair and accent, thinking you all were tourists just like us (we are from the Cincinnati, OH area). Fast forward 7 months and I stumble across this video at 1am. Maybe our paths will cross again one day while we explore the states just as you two are doing!
