Whoow, beaches and nature are amazing. Climate is like "real Holland/ Netherlands" : From May-September it's mostly warm and in winter you heat sidewalks?? Netherlands, has the best infrastructure in the world but never heard about that! Good job to show ur place! Tourists from overseas miss out interesting places, but maybe it interests me be originally Dutch.

@@livegreatgr Correct. By the way, Holland was the very first city to install the snow melt system. They were light years ahead of everyone else. Kalamazoo was the 2nd city in America and they replicated their idea from Holland. The seniors, disabled, visually impaired and women with children especially appreciate heated streets according to research. Holland should market it more. .to add, when saying Holland you should always says Holland city Michigan USA since there are other Holland cities around the USA and maybe Canada. Now we are global and so is youtube so we must let the world know that you are referring to Holland Michigan USA

Holland also has a big park called Kollens Park, which has a water fountain, stage, park, board walk, you can look across the water and see the south side of holland and in the warmer seasons every Thursday, there is a music performance being held at Kollens Park, and every 4th of July, there's a BIG firework show. Another thing about Kollens Park is that the grass is wet no matter what time of year it is, lol

I moved to Holland in 1995. I've traveled all over and I am very happy living here. The beaches are better than anything in Florida. Michigan offers tons of outdoor activities during every season. The population number is only for the city of Holland. The overall population is around 120,000. The 3 county metro area is roughly 1.5mil.

It sounds like you've found your slice of paradise in Holland since moving there in '95! With beaches that rival those of Florida and a plethora of outdoor activities year-round, Michigan truly has a lot to offer.

And a 3% income tax whether you live in the city or work in the city. It’s also a Sanctuary County. That is fine. But there never used to be so many murders 5 years ago. They were non existent. The road US 131 between GR to Kalamazoo are two Sanctuary Counties where a lot of the bodies are dumped. Also it used to be safe to bicycle or jog. The. weird murders happen with NO MOTIVE. People have been getting aggressive and violent. I lived outside of GR in a very low crime neighborhood. Woke up one morning and my car was stolen. 2 years later the police found it it Detroit. They didn’t charge the man because he used my car for work. Think about changes that come with Sanctuary Cities and Counties. They mean different things to different people. Usually it is an open invitation for non-citizens who came here illegally. I knew many illegal people in GR. They buy their SSN from attorneys. They were nice people. But Sanctuary also means MS-13 type people are also welcome. Think about what that looks like in 3, 5, 10 or 15 years. Or even tomorrow. It used to be if you had no enemies you were safe. 5 years ago. The murders and crimes happening today in/around GR are totally random and they get away with it. They just celebrated NO murders for the month of July. Grand Rapids itself is not that big so no murders in one month is not something to jump for joy about. The best of the best suburbs and schools are full of drugs. This used to be a place people came to raise a family. Marijuana is legal so your car insurance will be high and mote DUI’s on the road. Kent County was named as having the most DUI’s in the whole state. It is very slippery on bad roads. People take their life in my hands just driving to work. Look at most recent statistics, not statistics and crime from 5 years ago. Taxes are going up on homes in the future because roads are so bad. That is one reason why Michigan loses 2-3% of people per year. High taxes. Bad roads. Illegal drugs. Marijuana is still a federal crime for a reason. Also GR is a heavily medicated city so bad that they find antidepressants in the fish. Ozone and air quality has become a problem. Businesses are still closing. There is still trauma from the longest worst lockdowns in the country. I don’t recommend it unless you MUST live in GR. 3 women run the state. Check out their X sites. Wow! They make Michigan look bad. Too many years of unaccomplished women running things. The men are too nice to take over the government.

Holland is a dog town, not a cat town. Most Hollanders really do not like cats very much. Grand Haven is the place to move if you have cats. Forget Holland.

Like any city, Kalamazoo has its challenges, and crime can be a concern in certain areas. However, it's worth noting that many cities experience fluctuations in crime rates over time, and efforts are often made by local authorities and community organizations to address these issues and improve safety.

It’s very depressing there. Mom went to Hope College and got depressed. I had to live there 1 year as a teenager. I never remember being so depressed. The jobs are lie paying. (Kraft Foods due to NAFTA)shut down when my Dad was 57. He is now 80. Many pats of Holland are very gross. People are snobby and rude a lot what church you go to. Way too religious. Everything is closed on Sunday. I used to work for Prinz (not spelled Prince). It sold out to JCI which moved to China in the ‘90’s. This info is way outdated. I think the beaches are dirty compared to other beaches. The drug trade runs into South Holland. My university runs a last chance jr high high school. There are no windows or sinks. Holland is a city that has not been kept up. Parts of Holland are in Allegan County. The Holland City Police fine unforgivable tickets and are not nice at all. There is only one religion. It is the first thing you will be asked. If you don’t pay for the right bench in the right church you are not a part of society. This guys is a salesman. You can grow tulips anywhere. Steamed streets are not everywhere. Just on one Main Street. The comments below are about Grand Rapids. People are cheap in Holland so if you each to start a business, it might be hard. Not a lot of shopping., it takes years to get into some of the better companies. You are very Looked down. Upon if you do anything drink Sundown Saturday to Sundown Sunday. So kids miss a whole day of playing together. Levy and Ottawa Counties are named the most drunken counties in Michigan. The snow and snowstorms is MORE SNOW THAN BUFFALO. It’s a lot to shovel off your roof every morning. Yeah, if you are wealthy from Chicago and have a boat you might not notice that the neighborhoods are run down. There are less than 50 days of sunshine per year. Lived in the greater area all of my life. My friends got out of depression from moving to Washington State. There are a lot of people struggling. They are both soft and hard on crime depending where you are. There are nice homes in between taco stands and money transfer stores.. Like LittieMejico. The arts district has two plays per year. If you like things to do, not every area is safe, especially for kids. No, there are not enough parks., they don’t put enough time into zoning laws and gentrification. There is not enough for kids to do. The diversity is not what I’d call diversity. Yes, many parts are run down. Get your kids out of Black River schools. I tag is in an old, old manufacturing building. I did some teaching there and I felt the community had no character and was all split up. Not very cohesive people or fun place., Lots of run down buildings and overgrown trees that fall in the road. It’s not the well kept Holland you think of like it’s 1860. The Dutch living there are fewer and fewer Just look it up in Wikipedia If you retire with. Money everything is nice. But, people are not very friendly in Holland., a lot of people act like they don’t feel at home there. The drugs run through Chicago to Holland them to Grand Rapids. The East side of rye state is much warmer, less snow and has a lot more opportunities for businesses, employment and better hospitals. Don’t go to Holland Hospitals if you get sick. They are not that good. I am not sure this as man has ever lived in Holland. It’s me thing to visit, but Michigan goes through 10 and 30 year cycles (both) of bad economy., The divorce rate is very high because of tue economic cycles, despite all of the religion. It has many different types of Arabs and Turks and Hispanics. Nothing wrong but they don’t develop business that thrive. Zeeland just legalized beer Ave wine. It’s a test run. A lot of towns are dry towns near Holland and drinking is restricted. I now live on the beach on the east Coast. I don’t miss winter storms at all. I grew up freezing with so much snow in grand Haven that we could not open the from or back doors due days. The Lakeshore has A LOT of snow. If you like it laid back, Ihere will be a lot of tourists traffic and detours. I lived there. We left for a a mote modern city. Jobs are highly competitive in West Michigan. You can’t show up abs expect to land a job. Apply before you go. A lot of people work a lot 2-3 jobs until they get that one very good job. Also Michigan had the longest lock Ins if any state. People are just getting off of public assistance due to lockdowns. West Michigan is not fully on its feet. I would try Indianapolis or somewhere a bit warmer that is not psychologically recovered my from lockdowns., some kids never returned to college after that and are not motivated. Lots of lonely people who were in a prison AB’s could not buy things in the stores like seeds. Not exactly freedom. Don’t buy in Michigan if you don’t know what is next. It cooks me worse.
