With regards to the dead yearling, it was most likely a bobcat kill. Coyotes shred even adult deer. Bobcats go for the throats for the kill and go from their, usually.

That doesn't look like a typical coyote kill site, which is generally a lot messier and the deer is usually eaten from the hind end first....a mountain lion kill starts at the neck (lethal wound area) and they will eat the lungs, heart, and liver first....then stash the rest to eat the next day or so. No idea where you are hunting in the UP, but there were confirmed Mt Lion sightings in the UP this summer...first Gogebic County in early July and again in August about 170 miles away.

Lost my first two deer to coyotes 2 deer in 4 days. Never had them get one in my previous 35 years. I track deer with a dog and have also never had a client get one eaten. It does happen a lot I’ve just been lucky then on the day I told two people I have never lost one to coyotes, I lost one then again on Sunday.

Great series as always guys, tough weather conditions to start. But I think overall it's showing what I figured it would for Michigan. Plenty of does, decent sign of bucks but tough on buck sightings (especially mature) plenty of stands in the woods, plenty of hunters. Being from Michigan, I was hoping it would show different.........but it is what it is. Which is why I will kill time in Michigan woods, and kill good deer out of state. :-)

Anyone know what broadhead ol boy Dan was using when he took that doe? THP has me seriously thinking of making the switch to single bevel with the higher percent foc this season... That setup did work on that deer!!! Sounded like me doing a cannonball 15 sec after he tapped the release. Anyway so glad I found THP, they have the best Vids and great respect for the animals and portray hunting in the right light! Keep em coming boys 💪

I live and hunt in Michigan. To harvest any animal on public ground is a true accomplishment. These Michigan deer are some of the smartest animals around. You either have to be really good or really lucky to harvest any mature animal buck or doe. Congrats Dan on the beautiful doe!! That venison will be some of the best you have had I promise.

That is absolutely amazing that you guys spent time with that young boy, you guys make more of a difference than you think to these young kids. Thank you for keeping the language clean and the content great as in not showing just the upside of hunting, soooooooo glad you guys show the downfalls and discouraging times.
