One thing I learned at a young age growing up chasing grouse on public lumber company in WI...you hear more than you see, you see more than you shoot at, you shoot at more than you hit and you hit more than you find...that's what drove me to get dogs, that last part...I want to find them all

One of the dogs appears to be a Golden Cocker or Cocker Golden: which I have never seen on film before.

Imagine how many more birds these guys would have got if the “guide’s” dogs were actually steady to flush! Not wing shot and fall, just the first part of the process...the dog points and holds point for you to get there- steady to flush. Not hard to achieve at all, not a finished dog, just a started dog. Seriously out of all the guides in the north woods that have finished dogs you promote a guy with pointers that aren’t even steady.

I agree. Pretty poor dog work. You hear "bird up" very often but not "dog on point".

@Scott Williams ....Well all BS aside the dogs ought to be steady to the shot...otherwise they will bust birds. Grouse are tough enough to pin, but if your dog is steady to shot, and then if the dog starts putting birds up, you have a recourse to correct it afield, if you trained the dog properly......Just a thought, with a lot of experience behind it.

Guys hunting is not free. Let’s give back more than we take. The Government is not an answer, I Breed gamebirds and release them. Just trying harder.

Releasing game birds that one has hatched and raise themselves almost never works. There have been countless studies on this. I'm also kind of an expert in this field.
