Growing up in southeast Michigan and spending many summers in that area, it's fun to see a "travel vlog" view of it. There are so many other cool things you guys can see if you go back. Michigan is truly one of the most beautiful states in the country and was the central point driving the revolutionary war because of the abundance of natural resources and was highly coveted by the British colonial interests. The indigenous history is much deeper than people realize, and covered the region now Ontario and down the Mississippi River shoreline, as water travel was the primary mode of commercial trading access then. This area is still secretly coveted by international colonial interests, the fresh water being considered a world resource. Praying that it stays "pure Michigan."

I was born & raised in Michigan. Michigan’s name is derived from the Ojibwe word meaning “large water”. Michigan boasts the world’s biggest FRESHWATER shoreline. Percentage wise, Michigan ranks as the #1 state with 41.5% of its total area occupied by freshwater. Michigan has more than 64,980 inland lakes and ponds. Michigan is also the only state in the U.S. that consists of two (2) peninsulas, the upper & lower peninsulas. I have no desire to live anywhere else! LOVE “The Mitten” ✋🏼and GO BLUE! 💙💛💙💛

Michigan is my home state and I can’t say enough good things about it. I’ve seen a lot of beautiful places in my life, and, for me, Northern Michigan is one of the best. And, despite what some “snow birds” may think. (Nothing a gain at Snow Birds. Have a few in my family), there isn’t a bad season. Winter, Fall and Spring are just as special as summer and I would never want to live somewhere that didn’t have true seasons. The upper peninsula is special too, as is the West and East Coasts. I lived in Detroit for almost a decade and I could rhapsodize about how cool that city is and all the great things to do, see and eat. I didn’t realize Michigan had a “bad rap” because I’ve never met anyone who’d actually spent time there that didn’t love it. The Great Lakes really do feel like Oceans. Next time go kayaking in Lake Superior and see the Pictured Rocks.

I know…we really wanted to go up to the UP but knew we would be cutting it close to try and make it back to California before winter 🥶 we’ll definitely have to do it on our next loop! Thanks for supporting Gary!! 🙌🏽

Beautiful area. As a Wisconsinite, I feel like we got the short end of the Lake Michigan beauty stick.

It's a pretty area. My son and DIL live/work in Petoskey. But they also get snow up to your armpits, so there's that.

The lake in Charlevoix they kept calling an ocean is Round Lake. It connects Lake Michigan to Lake Charlevoix, another big lake. On Lake Charlevoix’s southern end is Boyne City, not too far from Boyne Mountain, a great place to ski.

MICHIGAN!!!!!! I loves peoples reaction when they first see the Big Lake (Lake Michigan). Most of the times they are just looking at a small bay and my even the lake yet!!

I live here and sometimes I forget that oceans are saltwater so when I visit other places and I open my eyes underwater salt water gets in but I’m not used to that because I’m used to the Great Lakes

I really, really want to move Up North sometime. One of the best places to live in the country.

You know I wish it seem like that for the people that actually live here. Although I'm probably biased because I'm from Florida and South Florida will always be in my heart as my home.

I’m sure it’s different for people living there year round than people just visiting and playing tourist, like any place..we found it very beautiful! 🤙🏽

That would be the south end of silver lake where your camper is. I lived for the longest time on the east-si-eed.
