Mick Jagger and a crack backing band band play a legendary secret gig at the Corner Hotel in Melbourne, Australia in 1988. Playing under 'The Brothers Of Sodom' Mick was joined on-stage by guitar hero Joe Satriani, bass player Doug Wimbish (Living Colour), blues legend Jimm Rip and drummer Simon Phillips(Jeff Beck). The support act was Charlie Musselwhite.

I was there!!!!! Corner Hotel in Richmond. Mick and co were Introduced as the "Brothers of sodom from Tasmania". Was meant to be a secret gig (only 150 tickets were issued - I had 2 of them) and but some idiot radio announcer mentioned it on air 2 hours prior to the start and you can imagine it got a bit wild outside the pub, screaming girls and about 50 Hells Angels bikies. What an amazing unforgettable and very sweaty night!

As Keith says "Mick can work a stage the size of a coffee table better than anyone else on Earth".! Having his 80's break from the Stones was a masterstroke in the long run!!

I was there - this was an after show gig after they played Rod Laver Arena as it is now known - I worked there then backstage. It was not a secret gig at all in the end though - some local radio DJ 'leaked' the location - it was bloody dangerous with more than 700 people crammed inside and another 2000 trying to get in. I was standing under a window inside and some chick landed on my head climbing in from the outside. Charlie Musselwhite opened that night. I will never forget it.

@1alwayswired I agree, you are perfectly right Joe has the blues in his soul and although he is a rock player his approach is like top notch blues man ,soul, feel, taste, purchasing, vibrato, bending everything -Satch got the blues down right and only the def & ignorant blues purist who don't even know him would not admit it , all because somewhere somehow they have been told that he is a shredder so he's been banned in their narrow mind even before he starts playing.

and for the record most blues players dont have shit on joe. Not bb king not robert johnson, no one. SRV in his own right but hes another story. Ive seen most of the major blues players in the last half century play and to be honest most of what they do doesnt hold a candle to Satch. Someone who likes them may disagree but that will always be the case.

Ask most good guitar players which is harder to play a RJ song or JS song. And I have heard all of johnsons stuff an just because he did it so long ago while inventing doesnt mean it is great. Basically what you are saying is the first people to beat a few rocks together for a beat are awesome when people like joey jordison arent in the same league. Really what you are saying is indeed ridiculous almost nomatter how you look at it.

additionally just because someone innovates or invents as you put it doesnt mean that people cant surpass them. Blues are very basic for the most part and yeah they were vastly improved upon and I give credit were credit is due, but RJ isnt in the same league as Joe skill wise, and his song writing capability is far far far less superior when compared to a master like Joe...then again so are the vast majority of peoples song writing skills but thats part of the point I already made.
