JID is nice but Mick is the 2nd best rapper behind Kendrick… That man can see Music. JID is not as versatile as Mick since Mick can indulge in different genres (Disco, Pop, Techno, Hip Hop, R&B, Jazz) Plus his discography is too slept on… already a living legend and been killing it for over a decade and he doesn’t care for the mainstream!!

Mick Jenkins to me is the closest a rapper can be to being a poet. The way he raps is literally like poetry. If a poet used a song of his but read it like a poem, people would not realize it isn’t. Nobody does it like Mick, I’m excited af for the album

He went from green to blue which represents back to green as u need money to get weed, so as the more money u make, the color of the money changes to blue. Then u use it to get weed which is green that’s one way n u can also flip it n say he using weed to get blue faces which leads him see jaded eyes( the customers mesmerized from the weed). The last part is so intricate
@JonRileyboy Жыл бұрын
Jaded eyes is a double cause “Jade” is a shade of green. Having green eyes means you’re envious But also being Jaded means to be bored or tired from having too much of something. So I feel like he’s painting this cycle where people chase green until they’re jaded of it then getting taken out by someone who was envious and then the cycle repeats cause they come up on green they took from you.

This got me excited for the album. track just keep growing on me. Also ian seen no one else see how fucking crazy the color theory shit is, all types of green... The last portion of the video was probably supposed to represent people being entertained/amused by a man in white face pint. They seem to be filming him. I believe his dance seems kinda dainty/cute. I think the fact that he’s black is very important here. The audience is mixed in color. Mick brings up color theory in the song which might be related. I think this is an example of how many people are entertained by others’ societal problems.

Yooo the color scheme is so fire because the main connection is the color 'Green' and he's just naming things that are different shades of green which ties back to the weed. But my favorite part about it is that even the one non green color he says is the 'Blue' which is referencing money. Which is commonly referred to as, and is also, GREEN. BARSSS

You can't really compare Mick and JID like a lot of people compare them. Mick's whole vibe and flow as well as intention is so different than JIDs. If it was a speed rap battle with bars and imagery we all know that "Jiddy silly widdit" lol to quote the man himself. But if we had to dive deep in the rap soul of man with quadruple entendres and alliterations that all make sense and paint a clear picture you could see with your eyes closed... Mick. And he would laugh at the end of it too 😅😅😅 This track is crazy. First listen I was like it's a vibe. Relistening I'm catching everything I missed. There's a lot. lol Almost too much. 🔥🔥🔥 track

A few things I peeped. He also used another shade of green when he said "jaded eyes" like jade which is a kind of green. Also, I'm not too sure what the last part means but if I had to guess it could be symbolic of how our actions today as black men sometimes displayed with anger, aggression and pain are just a indirect reaction to how we once were "clowned" and emasculated as men of color when we had less rights...orrrr it could mean our actions to reclaim our dominance (and sense of worth) sometimes displayed in unhealthy ways, like violence, are only making us look like "clowns" for others entertainment. like a psychological domino effect of trauma passed on, now taking form in unhealthy behaviors...which I think was highlighted as a theme for the song overall

I think the 3rd verse could be sublims at the industry and other rappers: Green is a euphemism for rookies or inexperienced "A whole lotta green in this bitch" (rap game) Lime Light bar = fame and stardom of being a rapper "All you gotta do is exaggerate..." = rappers with songs about gang life they may not have participated in. "...oversaturate with this hue" Brockhampton's Saturation where the album cover features a painted (color/hue) blue face as well as the bar after mentioning blue faces which could also reference Blueface Jaded could be heard as Jaden (smith) I cant think of any other entendre's with rappers and olive branches but it could just be they might praise him/others but they dont mean it and thus they can "get this smoke too" Its interesting this verse is only in the music video and so you can't find any sorta Genius breakdowns or comments on it anywhere at the moment.

I think the message at the end is showing that the display of violence that black men pose against themselves is the modern day minstrel show (which explains the face paint). Throughout the video, every act of violence was being recorded or watched by others, so the end is just saying they’re dancing for the people on the other end of the phone by degrading themselves.
