@@alerojas2952 Lynch’s Brexit waks a different kind Brexit from that of the rich Tories in the Shires. I don’t remember the devastated mining communities and heavy industry getting massive subsidies from the EU. As someone who voted Remain it need reforming rather like Corbyn’s Remain and Reform. Mick's amazing. What impressed me most about his answer on pay is that he refused to shout "I lose pay too!" - which would've been a typically political reply - and instead he was almost embarrassed about it. I don't get paid on strike days, he says, but with no ego, no "look how good I am" - just a plain statement of solidarity. So impressive.

I like Lynch a heck of a lot, I do disagree with his stance on the Labour party becoming a 'broadchurch' but I do agree that a new left wing party isn't viable. I don't believe it's because of a lack of desire or engagement in left wing politics but because the liberal parties don't play fair with true lefties in this country. If we're to keep a FPTP voting model and continue the tennis match of Tory and Labour then no, a truly left wing party will never get anywhere in a liberal democracy. I think this is why Lynch is an effective union figurehead though, he understands politics does not begin and end at the ballot box, he and the RMT I believe have been a very annoying thorn in the side of the government this past year. Way more effective than if Lynch or Eddie Dempsey had become electable politicians.

Mick Lynch is massively different for union leaders of the past, educated through his life, union and work experience. Had union bosses of the 60’s and 70’s lead in the same way this country would never have been over run by Thatcherite regimes that followed.

Have been a member of one TU or another since the late 1960’s. Hero’s, my uncle Tommy, shop steward, gave his life to his job and his work mates, never heard him raise his voice. Jimmy Ried, great orator, he was an inspirational speaker and leader. Not so heroic but respected, Arthur Scargill. Good union man but like so many an easy target for the likes of the Sun and daily mail. A long time ago I was a member of ASTMS, leader Clive Jenkins. My branch shop steward was a young lad who had been voted young trade unionist of the year, invited to the TU Congress and introduced to Jenkins. Small talk followed then Jenkins asked “what branch are you with”?, “Telecomm’s” was the reply. “Telecomm’s !!! You don’t pay my fucking cigar bill.” End of conversation. ‘It takes all sorts’ as they say. Not since Ried have I heard anyone as near his style until Lynch. More of the current union leaders representing the likes of nurses and postal workers etc are very close to the mark. You can tell they’re very good when government won’t go near a negotiating situation with them.

Paying for bosses to run it badly through your tax dollars means they need to be replaced with state ownership. Mick is chill and caring at once, and does a great job of showing that conservative false righteousness falls over when he plainly sets aside 20% of his wage to reduce expenses durin this strike.

We need Mick Lynch & people like him right where he is, head of a trade union where he speaks the truth without having to compromise himself, the union, the members and all workers. The mainstream media no longer invite him on their programmes (probably on orders from the goverment or Intel Services) because hes not a corporate tool.

This government knows that the longer they can draw this dispute out, the more the public support for the strikes will dwindle and the union members will lose hope and vote for what they already have. It happened to the miners 40 years ago. In the end the Tories closed all the mines to teach the strikers a lesson rather than because they were uneconomic.

İl like the way the other presenter mentions our 'unelected Prime Minister', lest we forget the British public did not vote for Rishi, nor did we vote for Truss. They were voted in by this awful useless government in house. The public were not given the oportunity to vote. The American style 'hustings' were a complete waste of public money and aimed at specific voters of the Tory party not the general public. As soon as Johnson was kicked out we should have had general election. Mick Lynch is brilliant, good luck to him and the unions.

The real truth of the matter, is this smug bankrupt government would rather fight a nuclear war with the Russian people than deal with our circumstances at home. Not forgetting huge chunks of our National insurance contributions, are being used to pay down part of our shocking national debt. Ask Trudy Baddams. This tenacious woman found this information after a FOIR request. As for Mick Lynch, I've a great deal of admiration for this man. Cheers Mick.👍

Late June 2022, Mick Lynch addressed a strike rally with what he called a "message to people in our movement, Keir Starmer and others." Starmer, said Lynch, is "hesitating...but I want him to be prime minister. That's what we've got. He must win. We've got to push him and persuade him to get into a position where he's in the front rank with you, all of you" - dream on. Mick Lynch can "crush" LCB phone-in/"own the airwaves," but that isn't a winning strategy.

It is too easy to forget that rail workers, undertakers, refuse collectors, electrical engineers etc are all key workers. My work and income are affected by the strikes, as I often rely on the rail network, but this will not change my total support for the rail workers. It is because I use the trains, that I totally understand why they are striking and why it is important that they win this dispute. We all need the RMT and the Nurses to win. And there is the money. The super rich have never had it so good. They need to be taxed at the same level as the rest of us!
