Hope he didn’t put any money on GWS winning the premiership this year.

Alistair Clarkson coached Hawthorn to 4 premierships in 8yrs. Going by the way the arse kissing sports media judge coaches, Clarko should be lauded like a genius. Malthouse was always about making himself appear to be better than he was.

3 premierships in 31 years. lol. Not in the same league as his contemporaries, Parkin, Matthews and Sheeds. All coached more premierships in a shorter period too.

Terry A He should have got at least a couple more at West Coast but had to play so many finals in Victoria in early days that should not have been the case...4 weeks in a row in 90, a final against Essendon in 95 just to name a few...he set the path for later interstate teams but unfortunately copped some very bad decisions of the Victorian centric comp that he was fighting to change. He also later faced one of the best sides ever at Brisbane.

He is though. 7 grand finals on top of 10 preliminary finals doesn’t come easy. When comparing to some of the greats you’ve mentioned, Sheeds also won 3 in 26 years which isn’t much of a difference, Matthews was the most efficient with 4 flags but coached less grand finals, Parkin inherited great teams in Hawthorn and Carlton in the late 70’s and early 80’s, whereas the 90’s was all him.

John Todd would have taken the Eagles to more grandfinals than Malthouse with the team he had. Also it took Malthouse a decade to win a premiership with Collingwood. I would hardly call him 'Great'.

well he showed up at collingwood when they were rock bottom and a list that was old and coming off the spoon..3 seasons later he got them to a grand final and lost by 10...then he had to do another list shakeup without tanking and led them to the 2010 flag with outside of johnson and davis none of them played in 02/02..he done a great job at collingwood..he could've maybe done more with wc after 1994 cause in 95,96,97 a lot of his guns were in their prime and they got knocked out..still a great job to win in 92,94

In his last season, he coached Collingwood to twenty wins and had the highest ever percentage in the 21st century. Buckley comes in and they lose their dominance. Coincidence? I think not.

The only one that made a difference at Carlton was Jack Elliott and his wallet. Cheque book premiers on at least three occasions.
