This is actually a pretty scary concept. Imagine going on dangerous missions under the idea that, because they can transfer your conscious in a new body, you'll survive. Suddenly death becomes meaningless to you, and you even start to let it happen. Then you learn you had it all wrong. You're not you in a new body, you're just a clone. All those memories you had were different people, with different lives. It begs the question of who you even are anymore. Hope they touch a bit on the psychological horror aspect.

I think it depends on if you have religion or not, and if you believe in a soul. If they can copy your exact body and brain, memories and feelings and everything included. Than it IS you (if you don't believe in souls). The "original" version doesn't really matter, as the other versions are carbon copies. At least that's how I see it. If I found out I was a clone, I don't think I'd be bothered by it. Whose the say the thing I'm a clone of wasn't a clone as well? If it's a 1-to-1 clone, I'd be cool with it.

The books great. Bong said he wanted to make it a lot crazier. The books title is Mickey 7, but he said he wanted to kill Mickey 10 more times. Also Mickey 8 is pretty normal in the book, but Bong said Mickey 18 in the movie is crazier because of a malfunction and increased libido.

I personally thought Mickey was kind of insufferable in the book (Ch. 4 SPOILER: he bets on his friend to lose a tournament, then gets mad at his friend for winning and blames him for his financial situation; like wtf dude? take some responsibility...also he just did the 4th wall breaking too much and wasn't funny enough to pull it off imo). BUT Robert Pattinson has the kind of charisma that can actually make Mickey work, and also Bong Joon Ho is always great. So even as someone who didnt like the book, I'm still looking forward to this!

Man I don't even watch too many movies these days. But this looks good and it's original. Oh and Robert Pattinson is a phenomenal actor. I've only seen two of his movies. But I've seen clips of his other movies on KZbin. And he's arguably the most underrated actor right now. I think The Batman boosted his profile. Before The Batman I only knew him from The Twill saga. I'm not a fan of the Twilight saga. His performance in The Batman made me do some research on him. And this movie continues to show his versatility in his roles. Phenomenal actor!! Could be an underlying theme though... Just spitballing here but the movie literally has the name Mickey (Disney) in the title and is about the recycling of a human (how Disney creates the same movies over and over again: sequels, reboots, etc.). While it could be a stretch or very deep in the subtext, Bong Jong Ho isn't one to shy away from criticism of monopolistic conglomerates!

Besides “The Moon,” there are many other works about clones and colonizing planets. The definition of “original” in the comments is weird. I really enjoyed snowpiercer, okja and Bong’s other films which has his own style and his own perspective about society. Is he going to talk about colonization? I’m super excited for Bong’s new work.
