This tape is hilarious! :) Mickey B. is an incredibly funny AA speaker who also shares a wonderful and powerful story of recovery! This is one of my all time favorites and I love the little sayings and acronyms Mickey puts in there. This is a VERY entertaining share and is sure to have you laughing throughout! Enjoy! :)
Addiction treatment WORKS! The Twelve Step Model has been utilized as a treatment for alcohol abuse and alcoholism since 1935. It is extremely important to know that help IS out there and addiction recovery is possible. If you are battling alcoholism, drug addiction, addiction or any other form of addictive behavior, there are people who know EXACTLY what it is like!
You can find out more at: www.aa.org - Alcoholics Anonymous Official Site - As should be blatantly obvious, we are in no way affiliated with them or any other Twelve Step Program. We are just looking to provide hope to those suffering from alcoholism or addiction.
It is important to note there are several ways for one to address his or her alcohol abuse treatment. Substance abuse is a very serious condition and has become an epidemic in today's world. Many people suffering with substance abuse need treatment, such as inpatient stays, rehab, or counseling. The importance and purpose of this video, and all our other videos, is to show that recovery IS possible and to give hope to those who are struggling with alcohol and drug addiction issues. Help IS out there!
Every tape is carefully selected to ensure its quality and that it is entertaining to listen to. You can trust Odomtology 12-Step Recovery Media to be synonymous with the best online recovery material out there. QUALITY is our mission. This is why we have such a large and engaged following. Have fun and enjoy listening to the amazing, wonderful, and powerful recovery speakers!

Mickey B does a very good job of clarifying what many people don't understand today - hitting bottom is not a physical thing or external thing. It is an internal state of hopelessness, desperation, powerless, lonely, helpless, welcoming death

Great talk! My sobriety date is 6/26/1981. I called Mickey as he said to; he is a genuine dude. I asked him his secret to wealth: “Keep sobriety number one and the money will just happen.” It hasn’t been entirely true but in 40 years I’ve never been hungry, cold or wet. Sobriety is the way to go for sure! Thanks for posting this.

In my 10th year, been one of the trickiest periods in a while, I'm 9 ½ years sober. Relationship up in the air, some work stuff and had my brother turn up after 14 years whose full blown addict. Had to take a little time out from everything an go back to basics, but God is somehow steering me through. Love to you all. Have a great day, the sober way!!!

I was the manager of an AA/NA meeting CLUB.....if you say club in bad way, it wasn't, actually it was quite the opposite....On Saturday evening we would invite special speakers to our CLUB to share their story. We invited Mickey B on 2 separate occasions and we literally filled the entire building to include 2 other meeting rooms having to use speakers. Mickey B is a phenominal speaker with a great sense of humor but most importantly he carries the message. I know of a few people, that after listening to him speak, maintained at least a 6 year period of recovery....I left California after 6 years and never kept up with them but I hope the have maintained their sobriety after all these years....if you can by the tapes of Mickey B.....buy them, buy them all - they are great.

I've went to less than 20 AA meetings but I have been sober for a little over 32 years. I was a very heavy drinker, mostly drunk from 16 to 44. I could hold a job but would drink on the job. Most roofing crews do. Lots of DWI.s during this time. A day came in 1985 and I had a choice go down on skid row with the rest of the drunks or get sober for good. that's the day I quit. I was all by myself crying hard and just couldn't take anymore of the drinking.

I couldn't stay sober, you couldn't stay sober but together WE could stay sober. Hitting bottom is asking for help, and all I had to do was ask for some help- it's so true. I asked for help and from there I was sent to one meeting, and then another and shortly after that I had dozens of people I was speaking to. Suddenly, you wouldn't believe it- I was sober! It was a miracle, and sure it took me a few falls, but I kept getting back up and I kept showing up. Today I am alive, and I haven't felt this good before in my life. Some days are harder than others, but they don't even compare to the days I used to be drunk!

I can just see the hard liner old timer heads exploding, lol. One of the stories in the Big Book used to be named Doctor, Alcoholic, and Addict, until the hard liners changed the title. Now its Acceptance is the Answer. So my point is the people closer to the founders had no problem mentioning drugs. Singleness of purpose existed then, but they did not interpret that to exclude any mention of drugs, since they did until fourth edition changed it. In all other areas, they want to be originalist. Lets be consistent. Too much hair splitting going on in many groups.

First, there were no other 12 step programs in 1935. Second, the reason for adherence to AA for alkies, CA for cocaine, etc. Was that treatment centers, courts, parole officers were sending anybody and everybody to AA. Many did not identify and subsequently left and used again. Without identification, noone is likely to get clean or sober, that's why some started a 'hard line' as you call it. I hope they also have the responsibility to get them to a meeting where they can identify and have a chance to get clean.
