n my book looks different 2 this, is 1955 Australian/New Zealand copy, yes n found at cheap price, n I guess he has newer or at least different copy. n so that it was published in 1955, does that mean he never gets really modern past certain point? Has this book helped you to learn to improvise on guitar? n are there any other books u would recommend? ,:-0

Remember a music course if only I could do that again for guitar and flute, only just started flute last time I did it, n is like you’re trying 2 put a puzzle together yet u don’t have the pieces yet? For one I am at least liking Bakers approach of keep learning, it’s not like learning a piece n done forever, you go back to earlier lines, it seems to make you think which could help I hope ,:-0

Someone gave me that book back in 1969 when I first picked up a guitar (I was 12). It was WAY over my head at the time and I lacked the patience for it. After playing in clubs with rock and country bands in my teens and early 20's, then getting married and raising a family, playing guitar has just been a hobby. A few months ago I was digging through some old song books and ran across the Mickey Baker book. I'm having a blast with it. My version shows a copyright of 1958. And with the help of this and other videos, it's just sped up the learning process. Thanks for this post.

Very cool..I started going through his book about a year ago just like he says..one lesson at a time..my playing has improved exponentially..not written for casual musicians or guitarists who don't practice..thank you for this..thanks Mickey

Hey Ken....ahhh....memories. Not only do I have that exact same MB book (pretty used looking now...mid 70's IIRC) I remember doing those same exercises. That damned GM6 really pisses off a couple of my phalanges now since I've become an old arthritic fossil. I use that same chord voicing in a couple of chords on "Girl From Ipanema".....that one is a challenge all by itself. :) Admittedly, it's been a while since I've revisited that book. Good stuff Ken....have a great day amigo.
