Clarence Nash, the original voice of donald duck, passed away just a few years after appearing in this as it was his last work he ever did aside from visiting children with cancer at local hospitals. I find it very special that he left us with one of the greatest stories ever told. RIP to a true legend and a great man. Thanks for all the laughs buddy

In my opinion it’s the best adaptation of a Christmas carol ever done and is a must watch for me every Christmas season I ended up getting the 2009 physical copy of it and would watch that and loved it and was glad to have a physical copy of it cause it’s that good

Scrooge McDuck was being Scrooge McDuck (Though McDuck loves his family). And Michael Caine played Scrooge as like a REAL person. So both tied as BEST Scrooge

From what I've read, the best version to watch is the one included in Snowed in at the House of Mouse. It omits the credits, but it's in the original aspect ratio with the best picture quality.

Danish TV was ideologically captured in the 70s and 80s, and American productions were generally frowned upon there - especially Disney. This meant an extreme thirst for Disney in the population, which was partially quenched by the Donald Duck magazine. When videos became household items, it was American movies and perhaps mostly Disney, that people wanted. My parents didn’t want one, so I was 17, when I bought one myself in the early 90s. My first two movies were Dumbo and Mickey’s Christmas Carol. I still watch Mickey’s Christmas Carol every year, along with From All of Us to All of You.

In a way, they kind of got their wish of wanting it to be a TV special since even though it premiered in theaters, it ended up playing on TV during the Christmas season in the following years. I remember watching this on TV as a kid in the 90s. I wish they still aired it. I don't know why they don't anymore.

Only version i know of where Ghost of Christmas Future talks (which is the BEST one cause it's Pete). And Scrooge does more than die. He goes to HELL!!!!!!!

This is an obvious redemption story. I love how this version shows that Scrooge's fate is ultimately hell, unless his heart changes. It's definitely one of the most interesting takes.

Thank you for sharing this. I was 4yrs old when this movie came out. I remember asking Mama, 'Why did Tiny Tim have to die?' That scene with Mickey at Tim's grave is the most powerful scene in any Disney animated feature. I also remember the plushies that came out, I think by McD's or Hardee's. I still have all of mine & the new ones that were released about 20yrs ago. I've loved Scrooge ever since this I saw this cartoon. Just watching it and realizing that he acts mean but, he's really a nice guy at heart who's been hurt by his love of $$ and all the bad decisions he's made. His journey to redemption is great to see. In addition, DuckTales is a cool TV show.

Mickey/Cratchit sure got hosed in this version! The original Cratchit got 2 1/2 schillings (half crown) a day and a full day off for Christmas with pay!

Always enjoyed Mickey's Christmas Carol, especially b/c it brought back iconic Disney characters that were sitting dormant for decades. It's also important to note how its success & legacy brought upon other adaptations of classic literature, such as Three Musketeers & Prince & the Pauper. Here's hoping we finally get a Mickey Mouse & friends movie. Not sure what the plot would be. But if Once Upon A Studio shows it can be pulled off, then why not go for broke & produce a feature?

I was particularly interested in researching this too find out that it was Miller, and possibly some other suits too, who told Mattinson to drop the music. That particular bit comes from Mattinson himself.

Gene Siskel might have been the worst critics of all time, next to his beach ball side kick. I'm still amazed that so many people in the media , to this day, anyone is regarded as a "professional" critique , when all they are is a buffoon who offer their opinions, and call it "professional" critique, as if they know a damn thing about what everyone wants, or even how to make a movie or tv show. Its art, its all debatable. You should not have the right to see a pre screening before the general public, nor should you have the right to sway the general publics opinion before the movie is even released.
