Yes the “I can’t breathe” part is a nod to Eric garner but everyone thinks it’s strictly about him and it’s not. It’s about the state of hip hop and big labels trying to control what artists put out. Hence “I can’t breathe”

when this nigga came to dallas i couldn't afford to see his show. I saw him outside trees and was staring at a giant. he could tell Iwas only 18 or so but I showed him mad love and told him I was glad he was making conceptual intelligent music. mick Jenkins doesn't know but I've been an aspiring hip hop artist ever since I was 8 and the fact I could look at this man and see someone like me who was born the same exact day gave me hope. thank you mick. -sincerely that nigga from Dallas that dapped up aftter the show at trees.
