I agree this Coppelia choreography and production is the best version of this charming ballet.

Often it's wise to go back to the original (or in this case the original Petipa version--the original French version with a female Frantz being long lost) and often you reveal what made it so great.

I remember seeing Eric Bruhn rather late in his career playing the part of Dr. Coppelius and he did a stupendous job. Unforgettable in its burning intensity. Great performances are not easily forgotten. He lived down the street from me and a memorial plaque remains at the side of the building as a tribute to him.

What a wonderful performance! Margarita Shrayner is an outstanding ballerina, and the Bolshoi Theater's production of "Coppelia" is one of the world's top versions.

What a marvelous production. Outstanding! The dancing is so incredibly beautiful, and so is the clothing. After seeing this how could you not love ballet. Delibe would have been very proud. Thank you so much for uploading this most magical performance. It can't get any better than this

The musical changes in the 3rd act more or less reflect the St. Petersburg production of the turn-of-the 20th century. 01:25:50 - Variation called "Travail" for the ballerina Dionesiia Potapenko, 1904. It's set to Rita Sangalli's variation from Delibes's "Sylvia". 01:27:22 - Variation for Franz. Music by Ernest Guiraud, from his ballet "Gretna-Green". This is the more or less traditional variation for Franz in Russia. I have no doubt that Glazunov based the male variation from "Raymonda" on the tune of this variation. --Only Mlle. Léontine Beaugrand ever danced her own variation!

My favourite ballet. I loved this production. It’s a pity about the audience clapping at every given opportunity, not even letting the orchestra finish.

На канале The Dances, inc. есть полная запись Коппелии с Натальей Осиповой. Это совсем другой уровень. Есть и фрагменты, финал

I think according to the original story, the dancers/characters are supposed to be young, early twenties, for the story to make sense. Bolshoi Ballet changed it to adult performance with adult acrobatic display.
