Just a heads up - for some reason the 7 rounder requires a good smack on the bottom of the mag to get it to lock in. Not a big issue, but just a heads up.

The Mustang, the P238, the 911, and the Kimber Micro are all great little pistols. Most people think they're completely worthless, but I agree with your assessment. Wish I had one of the old Colts and the 911. I just missed the last one sold by my local gun store before the production was interrupted by Covid and then subsequently discontinued.

Sootch... when you need details and not filler. Love this channel. I bought a colt pocketlite during the pandemic used for $475. Put a stainless guide rod and jeweled the trigger. I use +p .380 and it shoots like a dream. The rudimentary sights kind of suck, but I'm good at point shooting. So I don't really need them.

NB 26:00 All three use a version of the Browning locked-breech action. This makes the Micro 1911s unusual among most .380 pocket pistols, which are straight blowback for the most part. Their locked breech action improves felt recoil considerably.

Thanks for this comparison. I always appreciate the even-handed approach you have to pistols without regard to brand bias. Two comments: I own both the Mustang Pocketlite and the Sig 238. First, the little "ejector" tucks itself out of the way on the Colt but stays "up" on the Sig and I've read that bending the Sig ejector pretty much requires a return to the factory for fixing so, be sure to carefully lower it under the slide on reassembly. Second, the factory magazine on the Colt has a little protrusion on the front leading edge that requires that you tilt the magazine a few degrees when first introducing it into the mag well. Ever since I had an accident and broke my forearm and my wrist shooting a snappy little 380 like my S&W Bodyguard became a painful experience. My customized Sig P365 may be less easy to conceal, But I can practice at the range without having to ice my wrist afterwards. A 380 is a backup gun for me now.😊

I took the rosewood grips off and put rubber molded grips and got 2 - 7 round Magazines. I really like my P238 carry it all the time> I have lots of rounds thru this firearm never any problems.

Not sure the Sig is discontinued. Sig's site shows them as being available and a couple options as new. I know at one point they'd scaled back to just two models.

I have the Sig P238 SAS (rounded edges) and a Springfield 911. Regarding mag compatibility, I can't get Sig 6 round to work with my Springfield 911, but I can the other way around. I prefer carrying the slightly lighter 911, but at the range, I shoot the Sig as well as any other pistol.

Really like my Springfield 911. However, it required basic work to make it function to the point I would trust it with my life. Mine was a later alpha model. Only the first 4 quick and easy things were needed to make it super reliable and fix FTF issues and not quite going into battery issues. The rest made it even better. 1. Polished the hammer face (makes contact with underside of slide) 2. Polished bottom of slide where hammer rides 3. Polished ramp and chamber 4. Slight removal of some silicone material from the plug inside the extractor spring (was far too stiff - near zero compression of the spring as received) Not needed in most cases but helped (attention to detail took over.. had to): 5. Slight radius to the bottom of the extractor where the round first makes contact and slightly filed the extractor edge opening it up (ammo like fiocci had a thicker rim and would not feed right, this cured it). Then, polished it up so the rim would slide easily into the extractor. 6. Polished where barrel chamber meets slide above the firing pin (top two points that rub) 7. Some stone work and then polish on the inside of the slide where the barrel was contacting on top of the chamber and side facing away from the chamber Side note for further tuning: YES, the lighter hammer spring from galloway or mcarbo fits the 911 even though they say it does not. The spring detent fits loose so you can very slightly bend the last coil to capture or, you can place a small dab of grease to hold the detent on. Spring made a significant difference. Took the hammer weight down 2lbs and reduced trigger pull weight by 1.5lbs. A lot less pressure on the bottom of the slide making it even easier to rack and silky smooth with the polish job you should have done. Fires perfectly fine. No light primer strikes. Don't use the firing pin spring from mcarbo in the 911. It can work but is slightly heavier than the stock spring in this pistol. It does fit (slightly larger), but you would have to trim a few coils off the spring to equal the factory weight. No point or improvement going lighter here.

I have a Gov't full sized Colt 380. 7 rd. Works great. All Stainless. Great piece worth a lot more than I paid for it. Also the Sig 911 Copperhead. A fav. Plenty of G10 grips available for these. Never saw a Springfield in a store. So now I have the S&W Bodyguard 2.0 380. 12 rd and just as light. All good. In my opinon and I had several of these was the Sig 232 in it's final variation. There was an alloy frame and steel slide but all blue. The two tone was beautiful piece. Little bigger but accurate and controllable. Worked every time. They also made a Mustang Plus with two extra rds and the longer slide of the pocket lite. I like to carry one I don't know I have on me, til I need it. Sig 238 and 928 which is discontinued as well. All fine pieces with a 1911 heritage that makes like a machine when you rack it back into battery. All good from east KY USA KY, home of Hickok 45

The Colt Mustang XSP has a slightly wider grip with aggressive texturing on both the front and back straps. Its enlarged trigger guard is also undercut for a higher grip. The safety is more positive than on the older alloy-framed Mustangs, and it's ambidextrous. Furthermore, both the front and rear sights are dovetailed.

Had no idea sig discontinued the p238 but i understand why. I bought a p238 10 years ago at least because someone I knew was selling a crimson trace laser module for the p238 for $20. I hope they have increased in price since they were discontinued. Who doesn't want a collector's item? I loved the look of the 911 when it came out. Very sharp looking gun.

My Colt Mustang has an aluminum grip, not polymer. Excellent pistol. Zero malfunctions, ever. Great for pocket carry when you need something "even smaller" than the Sig P365 family of pistols or similar. Combine it with modern .380 ammunition and the 6+1 is nothing to sneeze at. The right tool for the right job.

I had a Colt Pocketlite many years ago, and now have a SIG 365 in .380. I like the SIG much better, and the Pocketlite has been sold. I imagine the new S&W in .380 would be great, too. For me, the 1911 in a micro size was not nearly as manageable as a very small, striker-fired polymer gun.

Not necessarily. Close quarters, the long stick can be a lot more powerful, than the "get away gun". In fact, the good, quick knife is, often, better than both.

While true, I won't pick a .22lr or a .32 auto pistol as my primary pocket-carry pistol. As sootch00 has said in other videos, the .380 auto is considered by many the absolute minimum acceptable cartridge for self-defense. If I have to rely on a 22lr, I'd always have to aim for the head. No body shots with the 22lr.

Been looking for the 238 version for many years. Got lucky on an 938 rosewood which is top shelf in this segment of 911’s. Looking for a we the people 238. The grip is great but the 938’s are snappy. The 238’s are far less snappy but just as great in quality. Need to bring these back tbh

I’m still confused as to why Smith & Wesson’s CSX 9mm hasn’t done better in the market. I’m aware that some KZbinrs got a bit snobby & trashed on the gun for its imperfect trigger reset issue but that’s extremely trivial. It’s a fantastic gun especially given the size, caliber, & capacity! I was hoping S&W would also release a .380 sister to the 9mm CSX but it seems like they barely even acknowledge its existence anymore, so that seems unlikely. Hopefully they continue supporting it. Strange how all the micro-size 1911’s end up not gaining more momentum. We’ll see if Kimber has better luck with their CDS9 & maybe they’ll do a .380 version.

I called a shop several years ago that told me they had a P238 Legion and P938 Legion. Turned out they only had the 238 and the 938 was inbound. I took home the 238 but never forgot about the 938. Fast forward many years and I bought a P365 AXG Legion. I guess I am just not a striker fired guy so I went on a hunt for the P938 Legion. Now I have all 3. Maybe I should have bought a smaller version of the P365.

I also have two P238's and one Legion P938. One of the 238"s is also the Legion Series. The Legion in 9mm is still being produced by Sig but Legion P238 is not. I cannot believe the price the Legion P238 commands on the aftermarket. While the Legion P938 routinely sells for about 600-700 in new condition, the Legion P238 (in new condition) consistently sells for $1600.00 or more!

I’ve got a Springfield 911, bought it the first year they came out, original version, same as yours. It had a break-in period of about 300 rounds, and I also had to learn to clean it the right way, but after that it has been extremely reliable through at least 1500 subsequent rounds. As long as I clean it about every 100 rounds it is very reliable. I consider it about best .380 ACP carry pistol ever made, and I’m glad that I was able to get one while they were still being produced. It was my exclusive EDC for nearly three years, and now I still carry it when discretion is paramount. It’s my favorite for road trips. Is .380 enough? For the garden variety private citizen involved in a typical defensive gun use incident, absolutely. Within ten yards, attacker not wearing body armor, and defender’s bullet doesn’t have to get through anything besides air and the street clothes of the attacker, two or three well-placed shots will work as well as any other commonly carried centerfire handgun chambering. I would certainly not discourage anyone from carrying a .380 as long as they are comfortable with it and are willing to train to a decent level of proficiency.

The Colt XSP would probably have been a more current model than the Colt pocket lite..I own a Colt XSP (mustang) 380, great lil pocket gun and I use a 7 round mag...It gets carried a lot in the summer here in Florida...

I own the LCP Max and I like it but I'm starting to get arthritis issues in my hands now and I am finding that racking the slide is becoming more and more difficult on that small pistol. So I'm pretty sure I will be researching for something else soon. I want to stay with 380 because I have a lot of ammo built up and I don't want to have to not be able to use it. Maybe I will look into the Sig

@jimmorrison714 It's kind of a semi-conundrum for me right now. I also own The equalizer in 9 mm but I was looking for something smaller that I can just slip in my pocket. Something which is easy with the LCP Max but not so much with the equalizer 380. I also have a Taurus g3c in 9 mm but that's not very pocketable either. I don't have any difficulty racking the slide of either of those pistols so I'm thinking it's this very small size of the LCP Max that makes it difficult for me to rack the slide with my hands somewhat weaker from arthritis.

I have both Sig’s and both Kimber Micro’s. I can attest to the magazines also being interchangeable and their feel and function is very similar. For that reason, I am trying to sell both the Kimbers because I don’t need them all.

Been carrying my 911 for about five years now I’ve got roughly 800 rounds through it I absolutely love carrying this micro 380 I’d like to get another one but my carry gun is pretty beat up but Springfield armory no longer makes the 911 so I can’t really get one unless I buy from gunbroker or finds a used one at the pawnshop And in my opinion the Springfield is far superior to the sig

I own a Colt Mustang Pocket Lite which I have had since the 90s. I am not selling it, BUT... Here is my problem with these: I carry an SA hammer fired handgun like these chamber loaded, 'cocked and locked'. I will not put one of these in my pocket 'cocked and locked', so I carry it in a holster. So, IMO they are not 'pocket pistols'. As a holster handgun, within that weight and size, there are now better choices, including some 9mm handguns. I consider the .380 to be a 'compromise'. A 'better than nothing' choice. If I am going to compromise on power and capacity, I want some return in the form of light weight and being able to just drop it in my pocket without a holster. For a pocket handgun I now use a S&W M&P Bodyguard .380. It is smaller, lighter and perfectly safe to drop in my pocket with a loaded chamber, because it is DAO hammer fired. It is as safe to carry in that manner as a DA revolver. If my clothing and activity for the day allow a holstered handgun, then I choose either a S&W Model 3914 DAO 9mm, or a S&W Model 19, 2-1/2" .357 Magnum. I consider the Colt Pocket Lite 'obsolete'. Not because of any problem with the gun itself but because for the weight and size we now have better choices than we had in the 90s. They are good handguns, as are my Walther PPK/s and my Mauser HSc (which I used to carry as pocket guns) but we have better choices now.

That's a you problem if you don't think it's safe enough to put in your pocket. There's better options capacity wise, but if we're talking about accuracy and shoot ability then no the bodyguards are nit better guns. I doubt they're as reliable either.

Com licença irmão, eu sou do Brasil, e gostaria de saber como são as leis sobre compra e venda de armas no seu país. Já vou avisando, no Brasil, é extremamente difícil conseguir uma arma, as leis são muito severas e existe muita burocracia no processo.

​@@joaopedrobaggio4475en Panamá tenemos la ley #57 que regula la Tenencia y Porte de armas de fuego y otros temas. Tuvimos 10 años de veda, ya es tema superado gracias a Dios, hoy tenemos una regulación amplia, pero muy bien regulada. Saludos desde Panamá. Wilberto Mercado
