I wish someone would show some love for one of the first "American" micro cars.... the American Austin 7. The American Austin 7 later became the Bantam. They came in many variations from Saloons, to Convertibles, and even trucks. They were mini 1930's gangsta cars.

When the Subarus first came to this country, they brought them to the old snuff mill in Yorklyn, Delaware to be painted. They were all white at first. When living at the mill in 1974, there was one left there, inside that had been in a flood. The Red Clay Creek would occasionally flood, as i saw first hand. There was also a sedan car that was about 2/3 the side of a VW Beetle, but I have not seen one of those in a very long time.

I had the Irish Heinkel (Trojan.) 2nd hand.. £120! It took my family, me, wife, 5 year old, from the UK, Portsmouth/Cherbourg, to the Mediterranean on a camping holiday. The 200 cc engine never faltered. Of course we had our adventures: We were bumped off the road. at speed, by a French Learner Driver. We ran out of gas in the Carmargue and learnt a great deal about giant mosquitoes! Gorges of the Tarn. (Very few gas stations!) The Pont du Gare. American tourists. The Dordogne. Amazingly stable vehicle: Can't for the life of me remember what finally happened to it!
