I use it every Time. Flying with Audio helps a lot when flying with your Friends and more than one Quad is in the Air. Hearing only Motor/Prop Noise from your own Quad is a real benefit to gain situation awareness

Can you still hook the mic with the smart audio attached to the FC?

Hi Mr TMac! I have that big mic on the top right on your list of 4 mic options... and I also have Mamba Ultra 1W VTX & FC MAMBA APP F722 MK1 + ESC MAMBA F55-128K. Is there possibility for me to use that big mic that I already bought, can I connect it somehow with this setup? Thanks!

On the dys f4 v2 pro were should audio be solderd to? Already have smart audio just now want to try audio
@TMacFPV5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question Tony! I think you'll like audio once you try it. I find it adds to the fun and overall immersive experience of FPV. You can get audi in 3 ways: 1. If your video transmitter (VTX) has an onboard mic you don't have to do any additional soldering than normal. Most VTX mics don't have the best quality audio. 2. If your FPV camera has an onboard mic it will have an "audio out" pin or wire that needs to get connected to your VTX "audio input solder pad (this is different than the "Smart Audio" pad on your VTX. 3. Use an external mic (like the adjustable gain/volume electret microphone in this video). Normally external mic's have the best audio since that is the only job that they were designed to do. The electret microphone has 3 pads. One is for power, one is for ground, and one is for the audio out. The power and ground will need to be connected to a 5V power pad and a ground on your flight controller. The "audio out" from the mircrophone (just like if it were coming from your FPV camera) will need to be connected to the "Audio in" pad of your VTX (which is different than the "Smart Audio" pad of the VTX. See Time Hack 5:53 of this video (Micro FPV Drone Live Audio Setup for diagram). So, it all depends on how you plan on getting the audio (onboard VTX mic, onboard camera mic or external mic). If your VTX does not have an onboard mic than to get audio it needs to have an "audio in" pad to solder to. A lot of VTXs do not have this pad. I have made a few videos on VTXs which DO have this audio in pad feature. You can take a look at those at Time Hacks of 4:01 and 9:36 of this video: kzbin.info?o=U&video_id=OKm0SWILfPI . Finally, I am giving away 2 VTXs on Friday, March 8th which have the feature you need. To enter the Giveaway for 1 of these 2 Free VTXs with "Audio In" pad, see this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kGTJhH2er72Em6M . Hope this helps you out. Any more questions, just let me know. Happy Flying! 😀

There is a microphone on the Mobula7 HD (Runcam split 3 lite). I thought that it was used for recording only. So are you saying that it can be used for live audio (transmitted to goggle during flight) as well?
@TMacFPV3 жыл бұрын
I'm not familiar with RC Split 3, however, if the mic is on a DVR board, I'm guessing it's only for the DVR recordings. The mic (or audio in from external mic) would need to be transmitted by the video transmitter (VTX)

@@TMacFPV ...and the audio lead to the audio in pad on the VTX... That is all that is said about the audio lead, and audio pad. This guy, and I, are asking about what if there is no "audio in" pad on your VTX, as a lot don't have that (or maybe they just call it RX or TX or SBUS? Can a TX or RX pad be used? And if so what settings are required for that UART to pass audio? I would assume that I could use any SBUS/UART/TX/RX pad and assign the function later in Betaflight (or whatever FC software you use)?
@TMacFPV Жыл бұрын
@@ogpennywise you have 3 options for audio (as stated beginning at the 2-min time mark of video). Two of the options as stated at this point in the video kzbin.info/www/bejne/h2SzhoCKnpqlhbs require an audio in pad on your VTX. This is a special "audio in" pad that not all VTXs have (and in this video I am referring to analog video only).
@ogpennywise Жыл бұрын
@@TMacFPV I understand the three options you mention, and they are what everyone mentions. As it is obvious that having the audio port would pass audio. But there are other TX and RX options...which was what I thought we were talking about. No worries, thanks for the reply. And take care out there.

How do ypu get the build in dvr to record audio with video ???
@TMacFPV3 жыл бұрын
If you're speaking of your goggles DVR, besides doing what's been explained in this video, it depends on your specific goggles make/model. My Skyzone 03Os have an option in their menu settings to turn audio on or off with the DVR. I'd recommend going through your goggles user manual to see if you can find this capability

Thanks for this video. I was hoping it would be this simple, but I wanted concrete verification that it was that simple, crazy thing is…. I spent literally months on and off researching this hours at a time and I’d find nothing. So I’d give up. Come back a few days to a week later try other searches find nothing give up. Come back and do it all over again…. Everything is running smart audio and that’s pretty much the only videos you can find… I’m running FPV but I’m doing it on a long range ground vehicle so in my case audio would complete my immersive experience. But because it’s not a drone I have to go old school traditional vtx and solder the mic to the vtx. I even searched KZbin dozens of times and couldn’t find your video, finally got lucky and ran across you in a forum with a link on how to do this. And I knew The basics of what I needed to do but I wanted someone experienced to reassure me it would work and see hands on how to do it. So to the point! Thank you for being the only guy on the internet I could find taking the time to show how’s it’s done and how easy it is and not expecting every joe shmo to have a smart audio system that does most the work for you I’m guessing, not entirely sure but I don’t drone yet…. Keep up the good work! 👍

Sounds very noisy. Isn't it possible to get the sound more clear?
@TMacFPV5 жыл бұрын
Audio does sound better live (while flying) than what you heard from the goggles DVR footage (mentioned at 6:59 mark). There are ways to reduce the "non-motor" noise such as placing a small piece of foam over the external microphone and/or putting some shrink wrap over it. Also, the proper placement of the microphone on the quadcopter frame can help (if you have more than one placement option). The foam, shrink wrap, and proper placement all have the effect of reducing wind noise. However, you will always have some wind noise. Its like sticking your head out a car window while going 60 mph to try to hear the car's engine. Also, some motors are louder than others. Usually, the smaller the motor the less motor sound you will get and the hard it is to differentiate the motor sound from the wind noise. The larger the motor, the louder the motor sound and the easier it is to differentiate from wind noise. One last thing. If you want the goggles DVR audio to sound better for posting on YT or elsewhere, you can always run an audio filter program (like Audacity or similar in your editor)to filter out the background wind noise as much as possible. Thank you for your question! I hope some of this helps you out! Clear Skies and Happy Flying friend! 😀
