Thanks so much! That was one of my top3 diy videos of all time. The task was quite meticulous and the explanation was step by step and superb. 🎉

Great tutorial. I am having trouble at the 2nd to last step in getting the inside mechanism to completely transit into the outside barrel. I am about 2mm short of using the last 3 screws on the inside prior to the bayonettte assembly. It's like something is hitting something else, just preventing the inside from moving up to its proper place so it can be screwed together. any ideas? The aperture lever is in its slot. and the brass ring nub is in the channel. Eveyrhign slides nicely til about 2mm away and then stops. I cannot get the 3 screws to even start so know the inside component is too low. help?? thanks. EDIT: Well, I now know what the problem was, and hopefully can help someone else that has the same issue. There is a "set screw"?? that has a slot top that I accidentally turned when disassembling. You can see it when the bayonet section is removed. That screw isn't your normal screw. ( I cannot post a picture in comments unfortunately.) It has an offset thread so turns in an arc. The head could not clear the cutout area for it when I tried to re-assemble. What I don't know is what that screw does and if I should be concerned or need to adjust it!

Hi, happy you found the solution. The set screw is there for alignment purposes. I mean, let's assume you assembled and at f/2.8 you can partially see the diaphragm blades, with the set screw, you can slightly change the angle of the assembly to make then disappear. I hope that's clear. Best.

Will it eventually get oily again after cleaning?
@diyextravaganza4 ай бұрын
It depends a lot on the quality of the clean and if you cleaned the neighbor parts. But normally, it does not come back. Usually it happens when the lens has been left on a car and overheats so a bit of oil separates from the helicoil grease.

where the oil came from ? can I used Alcohol 99% or lighter fluid work best ? please advised
@diyextravaganza3 жыл бұрын
the oil comes from the Close Range Correction (CRC) mechanism that is on the optical assembly.
@diyextravaganza3 жыл бұрын
you can use both, but lighter fluid works best in my opinion
