Oliver, Would you consider doing a video based on identifying ciliates, flagellates and other microbes based on their type of movement? I find few references to movement as many are identified as dead/ stained organisms but I enjoy watching them alive on a slide. This might be useful to other amateurs who enjoy watching pond microbes.

And we come here to watch you present this material, microbehunter. You're a cool dude. I like it when you discuss the limits of microbiology and help us discern the difference between what is hypothetical and what is definitely provable. So can people just use bottled spring water?
@Microbehunter13 күн бұрын
Yes, bottled spring water (no added CO2) can be used to soak the wood (I assume this is what you meant). Tap water also works, but sometimes it is chlorinated, which is not good.

Danke Oliver, das du dir die Mühe gemacht hast, das Video vorher aufzunehmen. Es ist schön, regelmäßig die Videos zu sehen, auch wenn du mal keine Zeit für den Livestreem hast. Danke für deine Arbeit

@Microbehunter I would love to see you visit a microscope manufactury. Maybe zeiss or olympus. Talking nerdy talk about the latest research what customers use these modern microscopes today. Or you visiting a university and looking at the high end microscope. We can not get those microscopes ourself but I think your viewers would love it and you might also enjoy it. I would be very curious to see Atomic force, electron microscopes or flurocent microscopes in action. Maybe the universities can let you know when a experiment starts that is suitable for youtube not all experiments are so nice to look at. Also Universities should in theroy be open to share their knowladge so you might run into open doors there.

Yes, I am also thinking about this. I do know someone who has access to an electron microscope, maybe it's possible for me to visit it.

In my collecting local lake water I have encountered very mobile amoeba. Some move so quickly that at higher magnification I am having to move the stage quickly to keep up. Have you experienced these speedy amoeba and can you speculate as to why the increased speed? Mine were ingesting diatoms and expelling them whole without digesting. Thanks for isolating microbes from the dead wood. I was surprised to get rotifers from the left over water from orchid bark since I thought the bark was sterilized. Am happy to learn the reason for the microbes accumulating at the edge of the coverslip -O2 - silly me, I thought they sensed a way out from being squeezed 🤪. I have had round worms ‘escape’ when my algae sample lifted the slip too high.

Hi, methylene blue is a known remedy that kills parasites to heal the body from many diseases. But I don't understand, when you use it to enhance contrast I can see on your videos it kills white blood cells. That's strange, since it heals the body it shouldnt kill those helping cells. It makes me reconsider taking methylene blue as a remedy (it was very often used in the past by our ancestors with great success). Thanks for your videos they are great and you are a great teacher too.

Great job. I've been watching your videos for a few years I'd like to find something about spirulina, I'm trying to grow it myself, but I'm afraid to eat it. When it's 9 or 10 PH can there be something poisonous??
