50 is the dilution factor. 20 ul out of 1 ml was spotted onto the plate. If you multiply 20 ul by 50 it equals 1 ml. There were 18 colonies in 20 ul, therefore 18 x 50 = 900 colonies in 1 ml.

20 ul is a 1/50 dilution of 1000 ul or 1mL.

1000uL(1mL) divided by 20uL = 50; if 20uL = 18 colonies then 1000ul = 900 colonies. If you wanted to know how many colonies per 100uL you would multiply both sides by 5.

Thank you so much for your nice lectures... really they are helpful but one thing is the lady does not pronouns the words well to be clearly heard like the man....... and if possible she has to reduce the speed and clear spell the worlds well.... i need to use more energy listening to her... let her regulate that because u need to know that you are teaching the world, thank u we r together
