Just read the materials on your website and there’s only mention of a bacteria to fungi biomass ratio but there’s no mention if the test distinguishes between beneficial and pathogenic microorganisms - both bacteria and fungi.

Does the soil have to be from the root zone of a plant or can you just test any soil in general

Hi Dave thanks for your question. We recommend testing anywhere in top 3-5 inches. Depending on the ground cover and time of year, saprophytic fungi can contribute greatly to the microbial biomass. Closer to the living plant roots and especially in the rhizosphere surrounding the roots, mycorrhizal fungi will contribute to the biomass.
