Gibbon Digital makes a little portable midi device called the Goliath that can control 16 parameters at once and has random functions and a pattern generator. It begs to be used with the microGranny.

so is the distant raver microgranny physically different to previous models (excluding decorative bits)? I'm thinking of getting a crystal soul microgranny with the firmware chip and was hoping I'd get these new features and fixes all the same.

I got the 2.5 noir, it was so fun until now. It just gives card errors and freezes up. I don't understand why the card slot is so bad. Or whatever is the reason for the cryptic catalog file system on the SD card. I want this to work so badly.

pmarchitect you need an ftdi programmer or arduino unit to reflash the chip

Why is it so expensive while being monophonic and arduino? There are polyphonic samplers like the mpx16 around which offer more for the money, tho in case of the mpx16 with extremely bad built quality. Still: how can a monophonic arduino sampler be that expensive?

+tractorinballs as far as I'm concerned all arduino devices are "hand made", some of them cheaper, some not. Just wondering what makes the price.

it's hard to say it's worth it, honestly. I've had the 2.5 for a few days and it doesn't read the SD card now. or just freezes up. you can get most of the same functionality with a delay pedal or korg monotron delay. the bit crushing isn't very versatile. I wanted this thing so bad but now that I got it? it's just a disappointment

I know the clicking is "Part of the digital aesthetic" and all, but it really is a killer. It's a great instrument, but no zero-crossing or interpolation, not even optional, would piss me off too much.

Amen, It is the deal-breaker for me.....I want it so bad but can't do it because of the clicking. I mean if it was $100 bucks I could overlook this flaw.....but I guess I will just have to go with the Akai MPX16.....wish it did not have to be this way. HaHa you thought......still gonna get this little monster anyways its great LOL

I believe that's how Granular synthesis works and It outputs at 8-bit.

granular synthesis is a blanket term. it is quite common to use interpolation between grains when creating sustained tones.
