I am getting great pictures as long as you use common sense and don't shoot straight onto the sun. I had the same problems as you claim to with the video until I put my phone into Airplane Mode and then connected to the Tello's wifi. Check your facts before you put down a good product. For the price range specially, this by far one of the absolute best products on the market.

well...first, it's a toy drone. second, it's not meant for semi-pro drone pilots. it's a just-for-fun drone which produces great pictures and respectable video quality. more for hobbyists. Comparing the Tello with other drones of its category would be more appropriate. but thanks for sharing your opinion.

Don’t blame the tello for the frame skipping dude, the drone was probably more expensive than the phone you have.

This is a great cheap drone selfie camera. Took so many of my family from angles normally but possible. Editing a little bit in snap seed and perfect for sharing with friends and family. Video is just for fun.

Even though I think you complain to much, I still like this video because *someone* has to point out the cons. And yes I own a Tello and no, besides the limited range (depending on radio interference), dropped frames and the fact that there is no controller with it, I don't see any more room for complains. And it was build for 'beginners' and kids with money. For €100, I think it's a pretty good drone, it held itself stable in winds of 16km/h. (and that with no GPS!)

I buy the tello yesterday, it’s a toy drone, good for have fun indoor (for me) it’s not for professional footage , the camera it’s made just to show you where you go and that’s it. You want professional footage? Well... start from MP2... After MPro and MPro2 this was fresh air, just to have fun with my family :)

I like the Parrot Mambo over the Tello. Cameras on toy quadcopters this small, aren't worth using. It's more fun flying line of site at this scale.

I think the camera on the Tello is great for its size. All these phone controlled quads are very hard to control for me. I much prefer a hobby grade transmitter and a "sport" tuned FC: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b4rLnYqHfpyph8k

Your getting bad video because you are using a Samsung phone. I have an s9 and xz1 and my xz1 works great.

Micro Motor Warehouse yes i have with my dji spark the same, on the sdcard it very good but what i get on my phone is not always good specialy when the spark is far away. But i think best thing is to put phone in airplane mode. And maybe a new fresh fast phone might help. Greatings from the Netherlands.

As I watch this I wonder if any of the RTF stuff ever really lives up to the hype. Typically it seems that they are compensating for the fact that they all fall short of the claimed capabilities. Seems to take nice still photos but for sure the jello, choppiness and other issues with the live feed do not live up to the current standards. BTW I was feeling the feeling as you lost the connection way up high, I have seen more than one multirotor be taken from me in that fashion, it is always very nerve wracking and disappointing.

I think this concept has great potential. There is just a whole lot of issues that need to be fixed. Im pretty impressed with how good it holds altitude and position!

For sure that seems to be the most impressive feature it has. Doesn't have much punch, the video feed is glitchy but at least it has good position/altitude hold ;) I am guessing they could be using some of the new altimeter sensors to give it the position and altitude hold which is not very common yet on most brushed multirotor. Going to the latest firmware and using and iPad instead of Android makes it better. I wouldnt consider it a solution though. The only solution is local storage, its an inherent problem top Wifi, which has been know before the Tello was designed.

The video quality of the parrot mambo is superb, simply because it has its own memory card attached to it, means saving directly in itself right exactly as it happens, whereas in the tello video is transmitted in packets of data over the air via wifi signal and only saved on the phone

My Parrot Mambo does not record any video at all. It has a 320p down-facing cam, its main purpose is position hold. It also has no memory card slot. Maybe you are referring to a different model altogether?
