Wow! You did it! You did what no one else could do - get me to learn Access! It's no small thing. I've been a computer instructor for over 16-years. I specialize in Photoshop and really wanted nothing to do with Access. I just couldn't put the pieces together for some reason. When I was a training manager, I had my other trainers take care of training the Access classes for me. Now I need to know it and you are the only one that has presented in such an easy-to-follow, logical and interesting format that I finally have it down. Looking forward to your other courses. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Thank you alot. for all the dedication and hardwork. your help will really help those who could not afford to go to schools but need to learn Access. your help will not only help individuals to excel in their jobs and career, particularly in poor countries but also increse the shortage of capable labor/ staff in those economies. i count you among the people who change history.

@muscletrainer30 Thanks for the compliments. You would need to use a TEXT field to store values like "1-2012". However, if those represent dates, I'd recommend storing them in DATE fields and making the value "1/1/2012". You'll be able to better sort, search, and filter later on.

Thank you for your free tutorials. I am about to take an online assessment for an employment agency on Access, and I only used it briefly many years ago. I took their tutorial, but it seemed complicated. Yours was clear and easy to understand, and I appreciated your tips from your personal experience with Access. This 12-part tutorial (really Parts 1-11) was a great overview for beginners. I feel more confident now about getting a good score on the assessment. I like the way you have broken down the lessons into short segments so I could take breaks between them.

Each CLIENT will have their own ClientID. If you use an AutoNumber, then no two clients will have the same ClientID. Now if you want to track ORDERS for each client, then you need a second table. The OrderT table will have a unique OrderID plus it will link back to the Client by storing a ClientID as well. And yes, you can use a subform to display that if you want. I cover this in a lot more detail in my EXPERT classes (too much for beginners) and in my ACCESS RELATIONSHIP SEMINAR.

Yes, Access is definitely the right tool for the job. As far as "sending a signal to a sorting system," I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about here. If you want to actually have Access communicate with a machine, that would depend on the machine and what type of interface it has. Access can easily prepare a report you can print to show the sort order. As far a macros or VBA, that's up to you. I prefer VBA over macros myself. It's much more powerful.

Relationships are beyond the scope of my beginner tutorials. I cover them in Expert Level 1 and my Relationship Seminar (available on my web site). In a nutshell, on your Invoice form you would set up a combo box to select a student from the list and that will save the StudentID in your Invoice table. No need to enter it yourself. No need to have the name stored twice.
