The amount of power, water, and sheer GPUs needed to underpin all this expansion will be a huge under taking -if Microsoft just bought a contract to get Three Mile island’s nuclear reactor online again then imagine how many more of those plants are needed for this ambition. On a side note though China is training Generative AI across distributed data centers, with very few GPU, and their AI inference costs are 95% less than OpenAI’s so imagine now if that $500 Billion was used wisely and with maximum efficiency - THAT would put the US ahead of China etc.

So its not really $500B its just multiple companies Capex (that they were already going to spend) put together

While Stargate plans 6 year plan to build 500B AI Colossus Super Computers. Elon Musk, builds the worlds biggest AI Super Computer Colossus in Memphis TN, in 19 days, with Jensen Huang CEO of Nvidia, said it was a super human feat, and than Elon Musk is singular in his ability to accomplish this. Project Overview: Elon Musk, through his AI company xAI, constructed what has been described as the world's largest AI training supercomputer, named "Colossus," in Memphis, Tennessee. This was achieved in an extraordinarily short timeframe of just 19 days, from hardware installation to beginning AI training. Technological Scale: The Colossus supercomputer utilizes 100,000 Nvidia GPUs, specifically the H100 model, making it one of the most powerful AI systems at the time of its deployment. Recognition: Nvidia's CEO, Jensen Huang, praised this achievement as a "superhuman" feat, emphasizing Musk's singular understanding of engineering, construction, and resource management. Huang noted that such a project would typically take around four years to plan and execute.
