Nice! I’ll be looking to pick up some da42 habits from you ;) Still one of my faves. Wish I had your real life-honed ATC smoothness. Going to do some work on that while I’m away from my rig.

Thanks! The DA42 has been a bit of a handful on landings lately. Not sure if something changed in the sim or with the last update. If I pull power, it falls like it's stalled and I have no ability to pull the nose up. I know it's a t-tail and probably nose heavy, but it's not behaving like I expect.

@@SDFalchetti The advice I had got was to bring it down to 10% power which is what I did on that buttered landing. My understanding from what I read a bit ago is that I think under 1300 rpm the feathering system will cause it to drop like a rock and there’s a name they have for that aspect, so you leave it at 10% and stall it there. I might be misremembering the rpm but the key for me was staying at 10% which is what I had read and that’s when my twinstar landings got a lot better. Don’t bring it down to flight idle if that’s what you did. I’m now at 30% till I’m a few hundred yards from the threshold and then I start bringing it down to 10%. I’ll see if I can find the presentation or pdf where it talks about that aspect and link it for you.

@@SDFalchetti Oh, its "disc mode" under 20% where drag falls off a cliff and, I remember now, it was a video I was watching at a flight school that said to not bring it down under 10% on the stall. The increase in drag is too much. Give the 10% a try and see how it goes. I think the 1300 rpm was something I had read about the feathering system that may or may not be related. (looking at my buttered landing, I was at 13% power on touchdown)

@fauxflights77 Awesome - perfect! Quite different than a Skyhawk where you simply kill the power when the runway is made.
@fauxflights773 ай бұрын
@@SDFalchetti Yeah, I think its all related to how the auto-feathering under 20% works. I am assuming its called disc mode because it unfeathers the prop, becoming perpendicular to the airflow (looking like a disc in motion), and would be like pulling throttle while also fully unfeathering the prop in the skyhawk. Also, it looks like I am 20% power over the threshold and then down to 10% when I'm within flare range.

Great Video. Thank you. You have some nice graphics, I was wondering what your TLOD and OLOD is set at? I am having trouble with blurry textures and photogrammetry when i climb and get further from the surface. Also wanted to know if you were flying with live MSFS traffic or some sort traffic injection?
@SDFalchetti3 ай бұрын
Thanks! I was just running with live traffic. I think my LOD is set at 100, but I'll check next time I log on. When I have blurry textures, usually it's that they haven't loaded. Sometimes clearing the rolling cache and giving everything a chance to reload in flight helps.

What scratch pad app is that?? Ahh NM built in ForeFlight.

I screen record my iPad mini and overlay it in post. FauxFlight has been doing some work on his channel to create an in-game mirrored scratchpad which works similar to Foreflight’s. It would be awesome to have it in game!

erm, It's not called Flight Simulator 2020. There is '2020' in the title. It's actually called Microsoft Flight Simulator. The clue is in the game name next to the thumbnail under the video description. I suspect the reason why Microsoft chose NOT to add a year to the title was because the last 'Microsoft Flight Simulator' came out in 1982. So I doubt there would be any confusion between the current one and that one, or any previous titles that had different names, such as Flight Simulator X or FSX and Flight Sim 2004 - A Century of Flight etc. In November, when Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 comes out, then go for it. It will have the year in the title so you'll be happy about that. However, as stated, the current sim does NOT have the year 2020 in the title. If you followed this incorrect naming convention, you'd have F1-24 2024, Fifa 2024 2024, Grand Theft Auto V 2013 etc. This would be silly. So remember, it's MSFS not MSFS2020 and it's official name is 'Microsoft Flight Simulator'. We won't get confused with the 1982 game if you miss out the year... promise.

Isn't this just nitpicking? I think everyone that are into flightsim understands the differences. You are right about the name of the current version, but in there's no harm using the year to distinguish between all versions. Just in case... 😉

@@ToBCreations Of course it's nitpicking. But I find it dumbing down to say MSFS2020 in case a few scatterbrains get confused.
