Thanks for appreciating the rig! It is going to get a all lot better though. Transitioning to a DIY 6DOF Stewart platform with linear actuators!

Varjo Aero is quite extraordinary. I got mine and I figured I'd had buyer's remorse but after using it and realizing how much I've been missing in VR. It's not about pixel resolution it's about usable seeable resolution. If most of the field of view is blurry or distorted it degrades the experience. What graphics card do you use? Varjo doesn't seem to turn completely off like my index they're still a back light when it's plugged in. Does it have front facing camera can you turn those on?

If your headset backlight isn't turning off you should unplug it when you're not using it. You wouldn't want burn-in on such an expensive headset

awesome setup, how much does it cost to have a rig like yours?

What's the shoes on the actuators leg mate? Great setup by the way...clean! How is the Aero finally in the MSFS? Is it so good to sell my G2?
@calvrsimer2 жыл бұрын
They come with the actuators: en-motionhouse.imweb.me/shop/?idx=134 The Aero is amazing and far superior to the G2 for my needs. Better clarity, no more sweet spot, amazing tracking with the base station (allows for rock solid Motion Compensation), performs very well in both OpenXR and OpenVR. You never have to take off the HMD, thanks to the Varjo Base software that as an amazing VR desktop integration. And finally I can enjoy an amazing sound with my wireless Sennheizer headphones!

First time seeing a 4 legged motion platform. Just curious as to how the headset knows the difference between head motion, and platform motion, without confusing the two? Are you using base stations, mounted on the platform, rather than camera based (inside-out) tracking? Thanks.
@calvrsimer2 жыл бұрын
This the Varjo Aero using 2 Base station v1 for tracking. BS have to be stationery, they would error out otherwise. For motion compensation, I am using OVRMC(a steamVR add-on) and a Vive tracker, you can see it (1:13) mounted at the end of the extrusion profile just above the left hand of the person on the rig.

@@calvrsimer Ah, ok. Thanks for pointing it out with time stamp. By the way, I noticed the platform did not tilt forward to simulate slowing down, when the props were set to reverse thrust. It remained level.

@@ThomasGrillo Unfortunately those actuators are bound to the manufacturer’s software which gives zero control over any of the motion cues! I am not using this rig anymore. I have recently finished building my own DIY 6DOF motion platform coupled with FlyPT which gives full control on how you want to shape your motion cues! I just posted a demo of it, check it out if that’s of any interest to you: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bX_Hk52ZoLB7rac

@@calvrsimer Ah, ok. Very sorry to hear this rig didn't work out. Will certainly check out the demo vid of the DIY 6DOF unit. It is of interest. About ten years ago, I messed with the Gyroxus unpowered motion chair, but that has it's own limitations. Also, was not able to afford to go electromechanical 6DOF. Maybe in a few years. The combination of 6DOF with VR must be an incredible experience.

@@ThomasGrillo Don’t get me wrong, I used that rig for almost two years and it was absolutely amazing, had a lot of fun with it! 6DOF, if you can, is the right evolution from a 3DOF system, it takes you to a complete new level of immersion and coupled with VR is incredible!

Curious... What motion software are you using?
@calvrsimer2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately you’re stuck with the MotionGear 4UN software which doesn’t give you any control on any of the motion cues, just general stuff
