This hobby is a bottomless pit. I also like you drive on the Simucube + GSI combo, but my wheel is their previous iteration (GXL Pro). Can't really speak from my own experience but people who opted for similar rig like you do tend to complain about some flex but most importantly modularity. That is the reason why many - including myself - go into the aluminum extrusions. They are rock solid but allow the full modularity for any peripherals (button boxes, stream decks, actuators for motion kits or simple keyboard trays). Something I can definitely say I am quite jealous for the amount of space you have to use. Myself I reach the small room boundaries and it looks like I might have reach the max possible.

Don’t let being new to sim racing stop you from racing with others online, so much of race craft has to do with what you do when battling another driver, with one driver or both being forced off the racing line. AC has servers full of newbies, just jump straight in and start stacking laps, racing other real drivers is by far the best thing about sim racing. The stick/main flight controls/rudders were top of the line. He had control panels and docks that he bought with a friend of his that were stripped from actual airplane cockpits and wired into Raspberry Pis to take the analog signals and convert them to generic signals that he matched to keybinds for his flight sims. All of this plus a custom CNCed aluminum frame which everything mounted to. The computer it was strapped to was a $2000+ at least. First off, I'm jealous. however i have some recommendations for you the way you have neck fx set up is making me feel seasick just as a spectator, i personally only use neck fx for drifting in cockpit view, with it only really reacting to steering wheel input. no looking to apex and minimal headbobbing. i know for a fact you generally look for an optimized competitive experience atleast in fps games, so i really recommend you use the two extra monitors you have and turn your own head instead lmao if you want the incentive to get faster with an elo-carrot on a stick in front of you i recommend either ac or acc with simgrid and/or lfm (both services are free) and iracing (be careful with iracing or you will spend way too much on dlc.) hope you'll have a lot of fun with simracing and dont get discouraged by the fact that youre not as fast as max verstappen after just one week! a surprising amount of people cant take the hit to the ego and just quit when they cant keep up with the front pack. there's a lot of videos on youtube to help you realize where youre making mistakes. lastly i wanna recommend getting a round steering wheel of sorts, its the most universal wheel type you can have :)

I remember when I said that I wasn't going to do iRacing and race others online... I will just say that people talk about the cost of racing in VR (I race exclusively in VR), but they act like a triple monitor setup is free. Sure you don't need 3 240Hz panels, but name 3 monitors that cost less than a Quest 3 that aren't garbage. There are some fun projects you can do with Simhub. Everyone focuses on the DDU and overlays, but haptics, wind (yes, I'm serious) and controller mapping for swapping out wheels are all great features.

Also, just a few tips on terms of your driving. Try to slowly ease off the brake the further you get into the corner, around the apex (middle of the corner) you want to start slowly easing the accelerator. He gives good advice on what to do/avoid to prevent strain/stress on your body. Video title is "PRO GT DRIVER REVEALS THE BEST SEATING POSITION FOR SIM RACING". VR/cockpit games are arguably still the best use of VR. For racing in particular there's massive benefits: The added depth perception is huge in judging braking distances and speed for example that make the care much more natural/real to drive. And wearing the VR headset blends in transparently as it feels the same as wearing a racing helmet from a weight and FOV standpoint. That plus a good surround setup to where you can hear which tires are screeching/losing traction etc. will play so much into your natural trained senses that you use and are practiced through years of real car driving that you'll understand why the rabbit hole goes deep, you don't realize how much primal feel goes into driving on a sensory level. It's something your brain is already trained on and attuned to, so it's something everyone can appreciate once they experience it.

I have a racing simulator as well, but the main difference is that I built everything myself. From the wheel base and wheel to the hydraulic pedals, the cockpit, monitor mounts, and even the PC it's all custom. It’s just as stylish as yours, though I prioritized functionality first and aesthetics second. During the build, it definitely looked like a disaster, but after getting everything powder-coated and anodized in gunmetal and black, and spending weeks perfecting the details, I’m really happy with the final result. Once everything was complete, I added up the costs for materials, tools, hardware, and everything else. In total, I spent about $30,000 on the rig. The upside? I saved around $10,000 compared to buying a pre-made setup. Doing the Upcoming holydays i will be adding DOF 4 motion to my simulator and who knows maybe down the road an FFBeast 15Nm Force feedback Flight stick.

You aren't really missing anything not having a motion rig. Motion rigs are extremely flawed when it comes to recreating realistic forces, and as somebody who has many years of experience of competitive driving in real cars, I find them to be immersion-breaking as a result. RandomCallsign has a good video explaining the flaws.

First time watcher, nice video. I'm a Sim racer myself well down the rabbit hole now. Clean setup. I personally would have gone a different direction with the rig for future expandability but I'm sure you'll learn on your own journey. Enjoy. :)

Oh man super cool. Real envy here and mostly because you are going to discover Sim Racing now. The discovery period I remember as the best time. Also ofcourse for your sim rig. Real nice man!!! So welcome to the sim racers community. You'll be sucked in like crazy. I am going to predict that at some point you will be moving to an aluminium extreusion rig. Allthough the tubular rig looks nice. It will always have flex. And at some point you will be wanting the least amount of flex. Next to that you will probably be wanting to add stuff to your rig. And an aluminium rig gives you that opportunity the best. Oh and if I may say. It seems you will have to lower the plates of your pedals. ;-) Give Assetto Corsa Competizione a whirl, I hope you will like GT3 racing. Assetto Corsa 2 EVO will be launching this year by the way and we are eagerly awaiting that. All the best from the Netherlands. And please do keep your Sim racing videos coming! Ps.. racing onine against others is for ALL levels. You don't have to wait with that. In ACC and iRacing you will start with a low rating and the advice is to race online on races with a similar rating so you will be driving against people with similar experience. You will then just like an RPG gain rating by completing good races and work your way up. So no worries. Start online racing a.s.a.p. ofcourse first learn the track. See you on track !!!

one thing that might help you with feeling the ground/car is a bass shaker setup, you can take however many you want and money wise its a really good alternative to an actual motion sim.

Why does the cockpit on the screen move around on the screen? Shouldnt it be locked to the center in front of the wheel? Makes the car look rubbery

Thank you for not doing the usual aluminum profile frame with Fanatec or Moza DD equipment. Your rig is insane and has your stamp on it. My skill level isn't good enough to build something like this, but I just ordered the Art rig and the Rs9 seat from GT Omega. If my laptimes get better with that then I'll look to build. Thanks again for sharing.

If you plan on growing in this hobby, I highly suggest to get an 8020 aluminum extrusion rig vs a tubular. The issue is you’ll find that adding additions to this is gonna be much harder. Also, i get you like you can move the wheel but unless a LOT of people are using your rig, once you set it, you really aren’t going to change so that feature is pretty useless. You could always just add a pedal slider or seat slider if needs if you want to adjust things on the go. The position of the wheel is absolutely terrible. The angle is all wrong, ideally you’ll want the wheel to come from under the screen. Just a few tips.

I recommend adding actuators to your pedals and buttkicker to get more abs and traction feedback from pedals, and more feedback from all 4 wheels through the buttkickers

Gran Turismo 7 VR on the PSVR2 with a wheel is the most immerive sim racing setup I've experienced. Everthing is just so optimized for VR in GT7 and it has really good haptics.

8:23 Go for it mate, iRacing is crazy fun in my opinion. I had the same thoughts as you, but I got a 3 month subscription for free when I bought my fanatec wheel, so I said: "why not", and I barely played any other racing game since. Don't worry I promise you in rookie class everyone is gonna be worse than you, and when you get out of rookies it will introduce you to iRating which means it will get you in races with people in your level.

Hey could you do a video explaining how different types of monitor panels work and what are their characteristics? I haven't been able to understand the types of oled panels differ one from eachother, in addition to ips, tn, va ecc.. so that would really be helpful
@christiancho22379 ай бұрын
I used to say I was way far off from racing against live people. What you have to understand is how quick the learning is when you are racing with other people. You'd be surprised how quickly you reach a level of feeling confident going wheel to wheel. Your lap times will improve far quicker when you HAVE to be fast. Also with the VNM pedals, I recommend going to a higher stiffness. Those really flexible polyurethane load cells squish really easily and some have said they have a tendency to bulge to much to the point they tear or explode. I'd recommend bumping it up to like the yellow load cell and also play around with all the different stiffness. I have the same pedals, and also have a clutch, the clutch addition is really nice and the additional dampers you can purchase, and a nice bit of resistance as well.

Definitely good idea to have triples without too high resolution, as you'd have a hard time finding a GPU that can push a decent framerate on that big a real estate. On another note, why do you need the view to rotate (look to apex) when you steer? that features is used on single screens just because you don't have visibility on the sides, but it is totally not necessary on such a wide triple screen setup.

Please look into the ergonomics and how everything should be aligned, because the wheel should have a positive angle aswell as the pedals.
@St0rm13889 ай бұрын
Welcome, I'm sure you will get everything right, and will join iRacing eventually, but some things you need to improve/research imo, in no particular order: 1. Seating position, specifically the pedals are too far away 2. As many pointed out, you must disable the head movement, (neckFX on AC) 3. Don't use Nvidia surround unless the game doesn't support triple monitors natively, it's not the same thing, triple screen are 3 point of view rendering, so you get less stretching 4. You should hide the halo on formula cars unless you are playing on VR then your brain will hide it as it does with your nose 5. Get a ButtKicker asap 6. Open wheelers are fun, but you may want to learn the basics with slower cars, with a round wheel Good luck

Nice rig, those screens are spot on. This might have been mentioned already, but you can do away with NVIDIA Surround for most sims. I've been sim racing with triples for around 15 years and I only just tried this after reading some posts about it. Keep 3 distinct displays in Windows (which works better for desktop stuff) and set the screens up in each sim. You can still set bezel compensation in each sim, but more importantly screen angles - this will give you a perspective correct view and eliminate the crazy stretching at the edges (e.g. giant wing mirrors).
@je82538 ай бұрын
I built a very similar rig a few months back. One upgrade I'd reccomend is a buttkicker. Adds some great immersion for a few hundred bucks.
@sethoselken95627 ай бұрын
I'm interested in that 45" LG as an all rounder monitor, but for triples I think I'd opt for 43"-48: 16:9 OLEDS. Rig up a bezel less kit. Would leave you about the same amount of room around cockpit. Looks cool though

wonder what u think about sim flying. more specifically in my case for star citizen. a little while after i got sc, i saw about how ppl would use hosas, hotas, or hosam(hand on stick and stick, hand on throttle and stick, or hand on stick and mouse). many say it really changes the experience of flying the spaceships. i think sticks and maybe pedals would be as far as i go tho. not super big into flying sims anyway.
