Another way of getting the GPS coordinates in Google Maps is to right-click the location one wants the coordinates for, selecting "What's here?", and then copying the coordinates that appear in the little window that pops up at the middle bottom. That way one doesn't need to guess what numbers of the URL are the ones one needs.

ATTENTION. If you are experiencing low framerate and huge fps drops, turn off airplane traffic and live weather. It will boost your fps by 10 or even more and your framerate will no longer tank. Also download the new nvidia driver. Before turning it off my fps would drop below 20 in cities and only go to 30 in the sky, now it's 30 cities and 60 in the air. My settings are on a modified version of high end.

Excellent video! This is so much faster then trying to find a nearby airport and flying in a estimated direction to search for a particular building or landmark. Thank you so much. In the UI options you can also adjust a pin to be dropped in the game for your POI.

I think the reason 4:00 looks accurate is because they use the satellite imagery with their own water effects on top when it comes to bodies of water. That way it looks like the bottom is reflected through the water which is pretty nice effect.

I went looking for Devil's Tower last night (no flight plan), which is there but it suffers in quality. I picked what appeared to be a 'nearby' airfield (it wasn't) as I forgot how big the US is. Decided to do the long journey anyway and used Bing maps on my laptop to accompany my journey. The accuracy is incredible. Buildings where they should be, fields looking the same, tracks and roads in the right locations. It was great to see what was coming up and tell how far I had to go, which was a really long way as I started at Cheyenne Regional Airport. I think that's what it was called.

​@@AlorielLelyn Thanks and it very possibly is closer, I'll bear it in mind for next time. There's a grass strip to the north east as well which is close enough that you can see the tower from it. I freely admit that I was winging it with my choice of airport. The airport name was the same as a nearby mountain range (or park area) so I figured that'll do. :-) My one real issue with the game so far, is the lack of detail on the world map. I don't need it to be really detailed but some kind of line around regions/countries/states etc would be great, for those who don't know the airports.

if you're serious about flight simulation use little navmaps / SkyVector. little navmaps allow you to make flight plans with any degree of strict rules you wish and save it as a pln file that will be availble on the onboard GPS of the simulated plane in game. These tools are used by actual pilots I guess you can use google maps to look at satellite pictures and street/360 view if you want visual cues.

I've been to Huacachina. This looks reasonably accurate other than the building designs of course. The surrounding dunes IRL are much taller and sandier. Overall the real location looks much better no doubt, but still cool to see it in Flight Simulator. I've been really impressed flying over Peru, the Andes look stunning!

Just to clarify, is this game to actual scale of the Earth? Like if you took a plane and decided to fly over Argentina at the same relative height and speed as real life, would it take the same amount of time to go from point A to point B, top to bottom?

That was all within one US state and in a very straight flying line, south to north. It was amazing and I followed along with Bing maps open on my laptop.

You know if you press the Start menu in Windows 10 and then enter map in the search parameter, you will bring up Bing maps, which is what powers Ms 2020.

I start an airport and add my custom way points along to the next airport but the order of the route changes and becomes a real mess. I can't see any option to amend the order of the route in the game.

I've still not yet worked out how to get navigation out of Mickey Mouse mode, such that you can string landmarks together as part of a route. Having to use free nav at the moment using guesswork and a bit of MDR to get from place to place.

Another way to find locations is to go on Google earth and click the little dice. That will take you to a random landmark that you might want to explore
