a rule of thumb for a 3 degree glide path to the runway, take current speed divide by half and add a (0) to the end of it. So 100kt/2= 50 add 0 you get 500fpm decent. Learned that from a pilot long ago.

10:27 “Shoot every approach to the go around; a landing is a bonus”
@skyhawk_45264 жыл бұрын
I remember my instructor telling me basically the same thing about the relationship between the approach and the landing. He would often point out other planes on short final and their wonky approaches, and then have me watch their landing. Pretty much all resulted in bounces or off center line touch downs where the plane wasn't lined up with the runway causing some noticeable swerves. All good landings come from a nice stabilized approach. If the approach is unstable, the landing won't be good and might be dangerous. If the approach doesn't look or feel right, it's always better to do the go-around instead of trying to "save" the landing. And in real life never be embarrassed about doing a go around. Every good pilot recognizes it as a show of good judgement, which is a respectable thing. (But every pilot also judges every landing they watch! So make it nice by setting up a nice stable approach.)

Hei squirrel, I really like your videos, because they seem very helpful for beginners! Just a small addition from me: - When landing small planes you usally do this by initiating a stall, so the airplane settles itself down the runway (as you mentioned, just hold the airplane parallel to the runway and it will tell you when its going to land) - Something more advanced: when flaring, give it a little kick of left ruder (or release a bit of right ruder if its being kicked) to stop a reaction force which will pull you to the right when flaring

@@albertkamradek261 depends on the plane obviously. Select an altitude with the altitude knob. Choose the method to get there, typically VS (where you define the vertical speed to climb/descent) or FLC (where you define the airspeed you want to climb/descent). Auto throttle is only available in the big liner planes. To make it do turn and follow a specific path, you would need to create flight plans, then activate it, and click on the NAV button with the AP engaged.
