@@AirborneGeek I’m still confuse on many things since my set up is on xbox different from Pc. I have the alpha xpc and the bravo but the msfs2024 sees it as one peripheral which includes Apha Xpx, bravo and Charlie rudder paddle instead of separate peripherals. When I’m assigning a task to a button to the bravo it doesn’t recognize it and there’s no current assignment to this button. If you can assist that would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

I bought a winwing hotas recently and had spent hours trying to find resources to get it to work in MSFS 2024. We're slowly getting there haha I think I now have it fully configured and figured out. Only time I'll have to go here again is when some new addon aircraft comes in. And even then, we would just have to setup throttle part again. Everything else would follow through as is. But definitely could have been simpler, no doubt there!

Although I wish you covered helicopters as well, the names of the controls for helicopter seem especially confusing and I was hoping to finally be able to set up my helicopter controls when I read 'Comprehensive controls setup guide'. Only 15 minutes in do you mention that you will not be covering helicopters. I recommend you change the video description to 'Comprehensive controls settings guide for airplanes'. Still, a very nice guide.

Fair, yeah I never fly helicopters really so for me I did not think about helicopters 😅 I will add that. I wouldn't say this is specifically for airplanes either. This is mainly an understanding of controls kind of video not really setup video for specific airplanes I'd say...but thanks for the suggestion, I'll be more mindful of the titles

@@AirborneGeek It definitely helped me to understand the concept behind the control system in general, and I actually went ahead and started from 'None' for my fixed wing aircraft setup, now I know nothing is bound to anything I don't want bound. So no worries, very helpful video anyway. I also used the same method to bind my helicopter controls fresh and it looks like my helicopters are now flying as intended. Finally! :) So I think something was bound twice before. So even though you did not cover helis, this is the best video I have seen on the general subject of controls, thanks.

So the second column is for secondary control. If you want to assign two switches for the same task. And for bravo, the autopilot panel is already fully setup in the base profile that msfs has so no need to set it up again. Hope that helps

One thing to note about using the 2020 keyboard settings is you lose the "Shift C" shortcut to get into the cockpit.

Yet again another brilliant video. I am still struggling though but this is more due to not being used to having a joystick, keyboard, mouse, xbox controller. On MSFS2020 I did everything via the Xbox controller. I managed to fix my throttles being reversed on the TCA airbus stick. I also had to invert my looking up and down in cockpit/external view. No idea why they were like this on default. My main issue now though is everything is just so sensitive whether its using the controller/mouse for camera or my joystick when controlling the plane.

Fantastic video! Now I know what is broken and possibly how to fix some of the issues. It is still incredibly complex to setup controls and have overview because of the lack of axis, button and calibration feedback. I would not recommend this software in this broken state.

I think they should get rid of the aircraft specific drop down box and merely color shade the controls that apply to a selected aircraft, another color for controls that apply to all aircrafts including selected, and maybe a third color for those that apply to some aircrafts, but not the selected one?

Found a fix for controller now working tidy on XBOX One cloud gaming - When you pause and can't do anything, or when controls change to keyboard automatically when they're not supposed to just press the xbox button, click home, then click the application again and it should all work just fine! 🙂

I did all the same stuff in my configuration but I am facing the problem that after saving all the profiles on one aircraft and hitting "apply to all aircraft" profiles are still not applied to other aircraft. If I change the aircraft I am finding profiles with different names and settings

When you have created a profile, e.g. for the Bravo, for example for a 2-engine prop plane, you can’t assign that to all planes. How do I assign it to relevant planes?

Select a different aircraft and select the profile you want. Next time you load in, it will already select that profile unless you have apply to all aircraft selected.

how do you set sensitivity? my TCA throttle quadrant is set up in the default Cessna so that in the first 25% of movement of the axis, 80% of the movement of the throttle happens. I cannot find a way to adjust it. Also, you should mention, that for reverse thrust to work in the inibuilds A320 and 321, config files need to be modified. The Sim will not register revers thrust on that axis even if you set it correctly in the EFB.

Like I said sensitivity part is weird coz it doesn't allow you to visualize the movement of your yoke or stick. So just have to play with it until it feels right in the plane. Sorry I don't have a better answer there and good point on the reverse thrust. I didn't want to involve airplane specific stuff here but that is a good point for throttle quad setup.

Do you know if its possible to let the joystick Y axis increase throttle when pulling up, then decrease throttle when pulling down? This was actually default behaviour in Flight Sim 2020.

@@AirborneGeek Yeah right now the throttle follows the joystick. so if i push Y-axis up and let go so it goes to center it goes to 50% throttle. Kinda want it to just increase the throttle when pushed down and decrease when pulling down on the stick. So i can give 100% throttle and let go of the stick.

Just getting into MSFS2024 and picked up a set of honeycomb gear. It seems like half of the game is playing with the controls to fine tune them. 😆 I'm currently trying to make some tweaks to the yoke because the springs in the alpha are so stiff it's kind of difficult to make smooth pitch movements.

I did not experience this. For me custom camera saving and loading works like it did on 2020. Using the ctrl+alt+num and alt+num, just to make sure? This was reported by someone else on my channel too so high chances that it is a real bug for some folks..

You can change the sensitivity of your controller just like anything else. Click on hardware settings on the right and you will be able to edit the sensitivity there for the device that is selected on all the axes.

The only thing to note is, you won't have a visual of the sensitivity on the plot like you used to have in msfs 2020. Guessing that is a bug..

Hey man. I have trouble where inside the game to presenter controls of mission steps are presented only for keyboard or for controller and not for yoke and rudder. Worked great in msfs2020. Usually the presented controls changed to the input you last touched: controller/keyboard/yoke. Now it works only for the controller and keyboard but not yoke. The interesting part is that yoke itself works fine in game. Any ideas?

@@AirborneGeek yes, it shows mouse has bindings like your video shows, just nothing toggles when i hover over it, only way i can look around is by using keyboard arrows. first time ive been able to play since release, think i have all updates as i did a full reinstall.

Just tried to play career mode on cloud play on the older xbox one and it's an absolute nightmare since it's been updated 😑 I start up career mode and my character can't even walk tidy I've also hit a bug where if I pause the game none of the buttons will work and the game has to be restarted.

You didn't touch on the mouse as long as I had hoped. Playing on an xbox. When using the mouse to move camera like I easily would in the 2020 version, It's moves wayyy too fast. Yes on my Xbox moving around in cockpit using mouse the camera goes crazy at high speed, but in communication with MSFS2024 development team they have been unable to replicate this fault, and whilst acknowledging it could be a bug, it is unlikely a fix will be found rendering MSFS2024 unsuitable for XBox using a mouse.

i still cant the controller to work i really dont get it i placed it like in this video but it dosent even the keyboard settins wont work at all. i just dont get it? so i play the last version lol i still wana fly but this new game is just a mess for me ! hope u dont get this problem also..

Don't you have to change your aircraft when you set up your throttle quadrant for a different aircraft. In this video, you have chosen the Skyhawk. Shouldn't you change to Airbus to set up your Airbus profile? The way you seemed to set it up here, your Skyhawk has several contradictory throttle quadrant profiles. At least that's the way it looks to me, so I'm probably missing something.

I have multiple profiles setup. SEPROP is for my skyhawk which will always be on single engine props and airbus profiles will be on airbuses. And all of those profiles are edited duplicates if the baseline profile. Hope that answers it

Also once set you dont have to select it again even if you change aircrafts...for example airbus will load with airbus profile and all seprops will load with my single engine prop profiles as long as I have selected that profile for any seprop aircraft I have loaded in the sim...damn while I talk through it I am realising how confusing this is lol

@@AirborneGeek So just to see if I get it. The profiles you are designing are somewhat generic. If a modification is necessary, it can be done after assigning the generic profile to a particular plane. And yes it is confusing but that is not your fault, it's the developers. It seems to me the developers need users and regular people on the team to point out their obvious mistakes. Well, obvious to us but not, apparently, to developers.

You haven't explained how to move from character view (which is default) to cockpit view using the MSFS2020 Traversal profile. The option that exists in MSFS 2024 traversal (SHIFT-C) is not available 2020 Traversal profile. So you can never go into the cockpit using the MSFS 2020 traversal profile so you can never fly anything.

All one needs to do is assign shift+c to the character task. I don't see that as a big problem. That is what I did in my Master KB profile. Everything else ports over fine for me but if someone is used to 2024, then sure can use that one

@@AirborneGeek Well this is exactly why I said it would be better if you explain this in your video. From my preliminary investigation, there is no Character Interaction keybind in the MSFS2020 Traversal profile, so what you suggest is impossible. I do a search for that keybind and find nothing. If you know differently and can show where that keybind is hidden or how to add it to the MSFS2020 Traversal profile, that would be valuable information for a video. I'm not bashing your video; I'm honestly providing feedback where I see a flaw in your suggestion. If there is a way to do what you say, could you make a short video showing how?

No problem man, so you can assign shift+c to 'take control of character'. That way you can have the 2020 kb setup but with this command added. Let me know if that helps

This is supposed to be a video that covers the understanding of the controls settings and some nuds because most people are struggling to understand the complex ui and how to even get around stuff with some examples so that folks can then make their own profiles with a good starting point.....it is not about specifics on how to bind everything under the sun that you fly....I did not even show all of the airplane controls! That is not the scope of this video, if that makes sense...

There is no reset to default because you can never override the default profiles that are present for your devices. The reset to default basically means going back to either the None profile (if your device doesn't have any default profile) or going back to the default profile that MSFS already creates for you for that device
