I’ve owned Quest 1-3, Pro, Rift S, Reverb G2, and PSVR2 for PCVR. No comparison, PSVR2 wins hands down for PCVR. Best overall quality between perfect colors and blacks, larger FOV, best binocular overlap I’ve seen, and DisplayPort connection quality. With a globular cluster mod the sweet spot is no longer an issue, and edge to edge clarity is surprisingly better than the fresnel hmds I’ve used in the past.

Great vid. And yea the pay off is huge.

Exactly. MURA is mostly a 'I want to look for MURA' thing. If you choose NOT to and embrace and accept it's a small downside for awesome OLED colours and contrast then you just stop seeing it or caring about it. The grey blacks of LCD are much much worse and can NOT be ignored.

Hmmm... as a person who is very nearsighted, especially in my left eye, and so must wear corrective lenses in VR, maybe this explains why I generally don't notice mura in my headset(s). Maybe people who are really sensitive to mura, and whose eyesight isn't as good as they think, CAN'T see past it without corrective lenses, and maybe they should think about (with no snarkiness whatever intended) getting their eyes checked? @@SpacehotelMusic exactly. Almost every headset out there has light bleed, for example.. and nobody ever makes videos complaining "vive/quest/AVP is crap, coz i can see some light bleed when I look for it!" Views and algorithm aside, in your opinion, do "OLED colors" and deep black but through fresnel lenses win over a less good LCD but through pancake lenses ? I'm pretty happy with the PSVR2 + adapter, but for gaming experience (with more text and detail around you, where flight sim is more about visuals, colors and such), I still prefer the Quest3 because IMO it offers a more comprehensive experience. I personally find that pancake lenses vs. fresnel are a much bigger improvement compared to OLED vs. LCD for instance, at least for PCVR, feels like a no brainer, experience-wise. You're saying you prefer the PSVR2 in this video because that's your point today, but what are your real thoughts here ? 😝

I've also wondered why nobody is talking about fresnel vs pancake lenses in the PSVR2 PC reviews. Surely Q3 still has to be shaper even over usb-link?
@64Papiculo4 ай бұрын
Honestly, with the number of Quest users compared to PSVR2 users, he would have zero interest to lie about prefering PSVR2 over Quest 3. It's his own opinion and many other youtubers and players seem to think the same while some other seem to prefwr the Quest 3. But when it comes to what's best for PCVR it's not only about Fresnel OLED VS pancake LCD, it's also display port VS streaming, and the display port without latency nor compression artefacts is a solid argument too.
@pixxelpusher4 ай бұрын
@@64Papiculo Yes they are all valid pros / cons. Which is why it seems to be very individual / subjective based on what matters to you. But even without trying a PSVR2 I can't imagine it being shaper than Q3, even though not many people are commenting on that. Most only seem to be commenting on the black levels.
@SargonDragon4 ай бұрын
I own both, and the pancakes in the Quest 3 are definitely an advantage over the fresnels in the PSVR2. The Quest 3 is noticeably sharper. But that's not all there is to clarity. OLED produces much higher contrast than LCD, and contrast helps make details clear, too. There are also many other aspects to clarity that the public doesn't really have any awareness about. The PSVR2 has always been a generally underrated headset. In actual head to head comparisons now, I think people are finally realizing how good it actually is. That said, for me in total between the two in terms of display alone, I think the pancakes make the Quest 3 my overall preference, but it's a real close judgement call. HOWEVER, the other factor is the latency of Quest 3's remote streaming. PSVR2 is a DisplayPort headset and doesn't suffer that latency. So for me, that pushes the PSVR2 to being the clearly superior headset for PCVR of the two.

Mura effect as good or bad as in ps5 ( g2 is way clearer here)..Fov, with the face mod that i use in my g2, the fov difference to me is not that great. In conclusion, I probably will continue using my g2 for racing. To be tangling with the cables and setup.. not sure if pays off. Not to mention that y you want to be alternating between ps5 and pc, you have to pair and unpair the controllers as they cannot be at the same time recognized by ps5 and the pc. I have a Quest 3 and PSVR2, but I have a hard time believing the PSVR2 will be better than my Q3. Pancake lenses are just so much better. Oled is nice, but not enough for me to replace Q3. The Q3 with my aftermarket headstrap and face pad is way more comfortable than PSVR2 as well. I will still have to give it a try if I can get my hands on an adapter.

First we will have to see if/when the Crystal Super even releases. Or if it turns out to be another fake product announcement from Pimax that's actually just a concept like they have now admitted the 12K was.
@somerandomperson82824 ай бұрын
@@SargonDragon the super is obviously not like the 12K that is completely different. The 12K has various technical hurdles that stop it from being feasible at the moment until higher bandwidth connections like DP2.1 are standard. The super does not suffer from the same limitations and they have already shown it. Don't let your bias against pimax get in the way of facts.

@@somerandomperson8282 Facts? Pimax went as far as to trot out what they claimed was a _working prototype_ of the 12K during a video interview on this very channel. And now years later they finally admit that the technology to build the 12K wasn't even available at the time and still isn't today. So what did they show us in that interview then? It appeared to be facts at the time. Pimax is trying to reframe this as just falling short of their aggressive goals, but what they did was more than that. I'm not claiming that it's the same for the Crystal Super today. Maybe it's for real this time. But how would we be able to tell? Because it seems more believable? Because Pimax sounds sincere in its videos? Because they swear they're going to be honest from now on?

@@fastfed sorry but the single Pro of the Q3 being pancake lenses does not outweigh all the cons of washed out LCD colors, horrible binocular overlap (looks like viewing the world through 2 toilet paper rolls), smaller FOV, compression and latency. @@mountaindrew5219 you're the only one saying this. Fresnel Lenses are so old, you have the smallest sweet spot right down the center only. It's a blur fest everywhere else. Plenty of people compared to this for dcs, il2 and msfs on discord and the forums. The lenses are one of if not the most important things on vr units now a days, and every new unit would never use those antiquated lenses for how shitty they are

@@fastfed I barely even move my head while using the VR2. I can still read text beyond the overlap just fine, only slight blur at the last 10% of the edge or so. Just because other fresnel HMD’s have bad edge clarity, doesn’t make it the same for all fresnel lenses. But we can end the conversation here, as you’re going off what you read rather than what you’ve actually experienced. Your opinions are nullified.

Doesn’t sound like enough upgrade from G2, the sweet spot on G2 is terrible! If this is only a bit better and same resolution then I will pass.
@techinfusions4 ай бұрын
I ran the G1 and then the G2 for a couple of years and paid $650 for the G2, the PSVR2 is an all around fidelity boost, the OLED displays and the noticeably wider FOV just make the PSVR2 the natural step-up from the Index and the G2 and surprisingly the Quest 3 as well. The sweet spot it slightly larger than the G2 as well but its not difficult to find its just there and like Seb says once you are in it you are in it, and with the PSVR2 sharing a similar resolution to the Reverb G2 your current hardware will not need to be upgraded because it will run just as well as on the G2, and its a true PCVR headset with displayport technology so absolutely no video compression, the controller tracking is far superior to the G2 as well, the only place the Reverb G2 is better is the audio solution but you can just use external earphones of your choice if you do not like the supplied earbud type of ear phones supplied.

I bought my Xbox Series X from Amazon. germany when they were sold out everywhere and just swapped out the plug well the whole lead for an old stereo lead with UK plug. I bought my PSVR" adaptor on Sony's site and it comes tomorrow along with my PSVR2 from Amazon UK. I already have a quest 3 but was mad enough to buy a PSVR2 and adaptor co's want a less hassle way to play PCVR and tbh some games look not that good on Quest 3 like no mans sky etc. It can be fixed with messing around but you really want the out of the box experience to be grreat. And for me on quest 3 PCVr it wasn't. Skyrim Vr is a blurry mess out of the box fact same with no mans sky. And i don't wanna mess with bitrates and settings all the time.Because you always change the settings for a different game and then go back to skyrim and it looks terrible again.
