If something like database integration really happens, I hope it's not yet another independent, DB silo, but rather leverages something existing like SharePoint lists or even Dataverse (or both 🙂)
@ThisWeekinIT7 ай бұрын
Looking at what they have so far, I believe it's likely to be based either on something they are building out specifically for Loop or on something that already exists in Microsoft 365/Azure. I don't believe it will be a database silo. Let's hope anyway.
@BrianPearcy7 ай бұрын
I want to like Loop but it's a bad half baked product. Loop tasks won't sync to To-Do, inserting a loop component in OneNote doesn't work, and loop components are just links in the native version of Outlook. I've given up on trying to use it.
@barking_mad66497 ай бұрын
Loop does sync with Todo. Least it does for me.
@ChrisPollard7 ай бұрын
The biggest issue for actual wider adoption is that you can't share or LOOP IN people from outside of your organization! There has been an active thread in their support page asking for this feature that Microsoft keeps responding to every 3-4 months saying it's "in the works" and "coming soon." It seems to be coming about as soon as cold fusion power reactors. I've tried to get excited about Loop, I can see a TON of actually useful benefits in business use, but when it's siloed to only people within your organization ... it isn't much of a collaboration tool. And I don't understand the holdup, because they already allow sharing outside your organization from OneDrive and SharePoint ... why can't they use the same concept for Loop sharing? Makes me crazy when they knee-cap something useful like this.

@@joshuahernandez-th6ovThat is irrelevant, Loop is a web based application and works pretty much anywhere. Whether you like it or not is one thing but Linux vs Windows isn’t an argument in this casel

@@joshuahernandez-th6ov you obviously aren't working in a business environment. I love Linux. I'm typing on it right now from my home theatre linux box. But the rest of the hosue is on Windows because that's what gets the job done for the people using it. I have a linux laptop at work that I use for investigating suspicious emails that could be malicious. But our corporation runs on Windows. I'm still a fan of linux where it makes sense though. Just yesterday I pushed out the very first Linux PC for public access at our library, using a locked down guest session account that resets itself on every logout. My Android phones ... linux. Web servers ... linux. Handful of Chromebooks ... linux. Love it. Amazing OS. Still completely irrelevant to a discussion about Microsoft Loop.

I'd love to see Power Automate integrated much deeper, and combined with adding database support it really could be amazing. They also need to add a free tier, the fact that Notion allows you use it for free is great for hooking people in,

I also think a free tier is important. I guess that won’t come until the product is more fully fleshed out.

I want to love Loop - but my years as a SharePoint Architect/Admin - the lack of enterprise data control makes it very challenging to advocate. So many parts are tied to personal OneDrive storage and in our current market there is a lot of churn - which causes this info to possibly get lost when OneDrive files go away. MS makes it easy from user perspective to use without knowing or thinking about where to save, etc. - but that causes friction when dealing with thousands of team members around the globe for larger enterprises. Great content and appreciate the video - hoping MS can make it a little easier to manage from the enterprise sooner rather than later..

Thanks for watching and a great point! I guess Loop is aimed at smaller orgs and teams but nevertheless, it will be interesting to see if Microsoft addresses the problems you’ve highlighted.

I still use onenote and I like to use apple pencil to take quick notes. Loop appears not to have an easy way to use apple pencil. I can use scribble its not easy and very slow needing many corrections. Will Microsoft be improving the ink or pencil options in Loop? I would like some day to convert all my onenote pages to Loop pages. Currently this is only possible one page at a time. Do you know will there be a batch conversion option some time down the line?

I don't really get the attraction other than note taking but then I'd also want it to understand mermaid diagrams. The database thing could be interesting providing they don't lock it to dataverse.
