It makes sense on paper. There are no viable game subscriptions out there on par with Microsoft’s Game Pass. It’s similarly monopolistic to how Netflix used to be. But their lack of success in it despite being the best of its kind on the market shows that the market just isn’t there

The problem wasn't Hi-Fi rush or the awards it won. Hi-Fi was expected to recoup around 20 million in profit after cost. Now we don't know exact numbers but it definitely didn't hit its goal.

Xbox talks about how they want smaller games that win awards and then close the studio that made a smaller game that won awards and was extremely popular despite xbox trying to kill it on launch by giving it almost no promotion. Can't wait for Ninja Theory to be next because they are doing no promotion of hellblade 2.

Gamepass is basically not capitalism.... Its representation of gaming socialism.... Yet it will never work and sounds good to sheeple. So everyone buys into this bullshit and defend it, yet big brother is stabbing you in the back... We are basically the frog in the boiling pot of hot water. Well instead of bitching people how about you start acting like the fans of helldivers did. Matty and your fans! Cancel your damn gamepass suscriptions.... This is why xbox is failing. Expecting Avowed to be ES6 is crazy, considering Bethesda lacks the chops or confidence to do it themselves. Bethesda sat on their hands for over a decade after Skyrim and allowed games like Monster Hunter and Elden Ring to take over the space. Now they clearly need an innovation with ES6, but likely have no idea how to actually move the series forward.

If they were able to make ES6 with the same Level of content as Morrowind or Oblivion, improved on the writing, got rid of antiquated gamedesign and maybe offered actual choices to the storyline to influence how it ends, literally what daggerfall did, then maybe the game could be successful. But they can't do anything of that.

I'm not sure it would make much of a difference. It works for cinema, but mostly because it's a different experience than watching at home.

No, Arkane only closed partially, Arkane Austin to be exact, a different branch is working on the "Blade" game.

As far as gamepass saying it hasn't reached its final form with different pass types and cost. We already have this $10.99 for Core/PC, went up from $9.99 about 6 months ago. Then we have Ultimate/Pc was $15.99 now is $17.99 Also their looking at adding ads to core. Then theirs Ubisofts pass that you used to get free with gamepass.

Microsoft is buying big studios whose golden years have long since passed, (bethesda, blizzard, etc) they all want the same thing. Highly recognizable ip's with years/decades of accolades. The facade of wanting to support/buyout an indie dev team with the hidden expectation that they'll have an immediate game franchise after 1 or 2 games with the same credibility in a fraction of that time, is insane. Rarely does that ever happen anymore. Recent games Palworld and HellDivers notwithstanding. They want each studio to be a factory. Not a place for creativity. Very few AAA games pique my interest anymore, and even some of those that do are encroaching upon the boundaries that i have personally set myself. I really hope the AAA gaming landscape can turn itself around, I really do. But the quote "make a game that you yourself would want to play" has been abandoned by the ones with all the control. Indie games have really been the backbone over the last few years, even more so in the last few months

I have only had Game Pass like two or three times and that's because Microsoft offered me game pass for $1 for a full month. I would test out games to figure out what games I would like to buy when they go on sale. I do not like the fact that I have to subscribe to a service in order to continue to play the games I like. That service to me is like a trial. I'm so glad I don't have that child like fomo anymore. Something new comes out and you just have to experience it with everybody.. I couldnt care less. I just go on KZbin and check out a couple people playing it, get some opinions from people I trust. Then I'll buy it when I have funds. I stopped paying for console online services back in 2019 when I quit playing multiplayer games because of how greedy and formulaic they are all. It's nothing like the Xbox 360 days when multiplayer was great progression systems were awesome. All these gaming companies follow the same exact monetization structure and its gross. None of the games structured this way are fun. Fortnite and Apex Legends were fun briefly and that got old quick. It amazes me that the whole industry has latched on to what those two games did as if it's their Golden Goose. God has that backfired.

Tango was already smaller due to jumping ship beforehand + they don't have monetization potential + they are likely NOT woke => gets axed.., while 343 doesn't (monetization potential, likely woke..)

While I mostly agree with teh discussion I think there are few points where you guys are way off. - Halo Infinite was mismanaged but is a hella fun game and if I am looking at stats now theres about 5k players online on Steam alone, probably more on Gamepass and more on consoles and I bet these people are having fun, saying "playing Halo? What are ytou doing with your life?" is pretty offensive seriously. - Starfield wa a success outside of Gamepass, it had 330k peak players on Steam, what are you even talking about here? - Callingh Hellblade and Hellblade 2 UE5 tech demos is plain sghitty, you clearly did not play Hellblade to say that cxrap and it is spitting in the face of these devs pouring sweat and tears into a game that hits differently while looking great to boot. Pretty trash video if I am honest.

Every comment is trash in the eyes of the beholder. Yours isn't any different. Well, at least they don't downplay the serious concerns and proceeds with their trash take. WHat is yours? A fleeting one line that you "agree with the discussions"? Lulz Agree with the most of the discussion and yet call it trash because the games you like in it was mildly tackled on and they have their opinions on it? If you can easily jump to conclusion that they didn't play Hellblade; then can we assume that you are a deluded Xbox Fanboy because you sure do like to downplay the serious points raised like mismanagement and laying off people just to prop up Bethesda and nitpick what is not fully unpacked passing comment on Hellblade; and yeah, all 5000 Halo players are playing Halo; how about the 100k+ players playing Helldivers in comparison.

@@kurxis1930 I can agree with the oberall diwscussion sayiong that Microsoft doesn't know how to manage its studios and totally crapped the bed with teh closure of 4 studios and still disagree with horrendous takes like "what are you doing with your life playing HJalo?" and "Starfield was not succesful". When you put yourself on You8tube in front of an audience you are open to criticism, this is mine, I think these 2 comments made this video just trash talking instead of actually celebrating developpers and putting the blame where it is warranted: management. Disagree with me? That's fine, I am in no way defending Microsoft (or even 343 by the by), just calling out trash talk. Let's support devs instead.
