Using Union Pacific 844 would make MUCH more sense in more ways than one.

If this train simulation game featured American steam locomotives by default (which should have been done in the first place), then that would have been interesting.

This seems like a very chill game!

It was. If you ever manage to get a copy of it I'd encourage you to try it (granted you have an Nvidia graphics card as MSTS won't run properly with any other type of graphics card). The base game's content looked like rolling polygons compared to the models that Third Party developers made later and certainly don't look half as good as models used in modern simulators, but if you can get past the look it's still a great time all around. I still have my copy and the only reason I haven't gotten it installed is because my laptop didn't come with a CD drive (one is en route in the mail as we speak, and yes the only reason I ordered it is so that I can install MSTS on my laptop).

Since MSTS didn't have fully 3D cabs, they had to re-design Flying Scotsman's cab so all the playable controls could be seen all at once, regardless of it being in its 1920s form. For example, the sander lever isn't underneath the boiler water sight glass on the real locomotive and the "tender water gauge" in Flying Scotsman's cab in MSTS is actually another boiler water sight glass on the real locomotive. One thing I couldn't find an answer about regarding MSTS is who were the voice actors for the tutorials and introductory train rides? I couldn't find the answer on that anywhere, but I'm curious to know who they were.

I think I answered my own question. According to Moby Games, the voice actors for MSTS were Henry Dardenne, Ken Boynton, Steve Mitchell, Kymberli Colbourne. It doesn't specify which voice actor voiced what, but I think it's safe to say that Henry Dardenne is the steam locomotive instructor, Steve Mitchell is the diesel locomotive instructor, Ken Boynton is the electric locomotive instructor and Kymberli Colbourne is the Introductory Train Ride narrator.

I drove Jeddo Coal #85 "Mack" on May 7th of 2022. It made the simulator pale in comparison in my opinion.

It was an add-on? That sounds odd if that was the case because there have been lots of American steam engine add-ons for Microsoft Train Simulator to compensate for the fact it doesn't have any default American steam engines.

@@CEO100able I don't know. I meant that I drove it at Spencer North Carolina at the Transportation Museum that day.

@@cjstrader8171 Oh, you drove it for real at that railroad museum? That sounds very exciting! How was that experience? I bet it felt awesome! Sorry for not understanding your comment initially; I did not realize you were talking about driving a steam engine in the real world.

@@CEO100able Like I said, it made the simulator pale in comparison. To sum up my experience: I had a helluva good time.
