Nice video! When I had my micosquirt on my green car, I had a problem with my TFI breaking up at about 5500. long story short, I put a Holly crank trigger and went to Megasquirt! Keep your stock heads. Save your money on a heads, cam and intake upgrade! Your only going to add about 100-130hp with a HCI swap. Spend about the same money on injectors, fuel pump and a 67mm on3 turbo! 10psi will get you around 425-475whp! If you wanted to do head studs and good head gaskets would hurt anything! Just my 2 cents! Nice looking car!!

TFI Modules use Thermal Paste. The PIP uses the Aluminum distributor as a heatsink. 94/95 mustangs moved them to a dedicated heatsink which helped alot. But yeah no dielectric grease. Use Thermal paste like Arctic Silver 5. make sure where it mounts is clean. use alcohol or fine sand paper to get it smooth as possible.

Great video. That grease on the TFI is a heat sink. You found the grease to put on it. Mine does some weird stuff too. Idles at 1500 and surges. Sometimes restarting the car clears it up a little. I have an MSD ignition and the multispark helps with a lot of the ignition issues. Were you able to monitor the car gauges on the laptop from the micro squirt setup? Is that what we were looking at?

I would take you up on that if I didn't order a new distributor, hahaha. That's a nice swap you did.
@michaelyount31762 жыл бұрын
It's not a dielectric grease that goes behind it -- it's a special thermal paste. Ford faced class action lawsuits over the problems associated with having the TFI mounted to the distributor -- a hot and vibration-filled environment. On other models and later Mustangs they moved the TFI module off of the distributor and onto a finned mount at the front of the car to reduce heat and vibration. That stopped them from failing prematurely. When mine went bad I relocated it to the front fascia panel using a finned mounting panel off of a junkyard T-bird. You can make your own or buy a modified wiring harness to accomplish the relocate.

Good video .hey A couple months ago I had a similar issue . Slight surge at idle and a miss/hesitation/bucking when driving.could be the pip sensor in the distributor,acts as a crank sensor and will effect the spark . Replaced mine with an accel unit and fixed the issue.also are still at 10 degrees timing? If so you could bump it up to 14-15 and you’ll see a nice increase in throttle response 👍
