It’s the fluting on the blade that helps with firing underwater. The milling under the switch is there to catch debris that gets under the switch.

Ooh! Okay, that makes sense, thanx so much man! I appreciate u letting me know. I'll try to remember to clarify that on my next video. Thanx for watching man!

I really dig the blade shape and size of this piece, as well as those scallops at the base of the blade.

YES! YES! YES! I'm nor having an orgasm, I'm just agreeing with you............................... those were two of the biggest things that attracted me to that knife lol! Thanx man!

Would be cool to see the front end of that OTF retracted and deployed talking about close up with those built in tracks on blade like dose the handle have matching tracks on the front end
@letsdoitup75258 ай бұрын
Sorry, I suck at social media lol! Sorry, with a knife that big its tough to stand the knife up and focus down to the end of the handle, I tried it, and I can tell u the only thing I can see on the front end is a tiny apex ground into the bottom of the frame so the edge doesn't touch the frame. That's all I can see. Hope that helps but I will try to remember to shoe that off next time. Thanx for watching man!

Haven’t been able to snag the configuration of this that I’m after yet but I’m on the lookout was able to pick up a gen 3 troodon single edge to hold me over though good review subbed you 🍻

Im torn between this and waiting for a hellhound blade on the new troodon. Ive got a carbon fiber razer ultratech, glykon and cypher 2

Hi what grind issue you have, i just received mine and the spine of the blade is unevenly finished
@letsdoitup75258 ай бұрын
Yup me too, watch the video I did on the project x. I realized I forgot to point that out and showed it on that video. Also the grind on my swedge was a little bit off too
@honkerh8r5648 ай бұрын
I just unboxed mine, and I've noticed a little bit of button play I don't have on my Combat Troodon. Will the button on yours push in a little bit?
@letsdoitup75258 ай бұрын
Yes, it's minor but it'd there. I mentioned it to microtech because I decided to send it back because of the grind issues. I can't accept that on a $500 knife. I'm guessing they won't do anything g about that, but I'll let u know what they say. Otherwise how do u like urs?
@honkerh8r5648 ай бұрын
@@letsdoitup7525 Otherwise, I really like it. I just now unboxed it, so I'm only on first impressions. I don't know that it fires any harder than the Combat Troodon (Gen 3). It's definitely cool, but time will tell if it overtakes the CT as King of the Hill. I did, by the way, also score one of the proof run Mini Heras. The action is so buttery smooth. The size is either the pro or the con, depending on what you're looking for. If I didn't already have a gen 3 Microtech (CT and Mini Hera) this Scarab would be way more impressive.
@letsdoitup75258 ай бұрын
Fair enough. I just like the button a lot more on the scarab. Thanx for the comment and for watching!
@GoodModeSC7 ай бұрын
I've got a Hera II (and a scarab in the mail) and assuming all the gen 3's are the same, then there's a little spring under the button. So I think a tiny bit of up/ down play is actually built into the switch
@GoodModeSC7 ай бұрын
Folks often seen afraid to take these guys apart. Don't be, if that were a concern for you. Maybe it was a problem with earlier generations but these gen 3 are clearly now designed to be user serviceable, though even my last gen Ultem combat troodon came apart and went back together just fine

Man. The blade just looks so small compared to the handle. Idk why it just turns me off. The dagger blade looks better usually

I don't think it looks small compared to the handle.

I came for the Scarab but stayed after that opening joke lol. Solid 🤣🤣 FYI, Rem Oil has been the go-to oil for MT OTF knives, been using it for years and it works great. I happen to have/use the spay can variety, it is a very light oil and doesn't get all sticky and gross (that's what she said). The grooves under the button are what they are calling the Crud Cutter and is supposed to trap dirt and debris and make for a smoother actuation of the switch but at least looks kinda cool.
@letsdoitup75258 ай бұрын
Lol lemme guess...did I say nano oil or sum stoopid shit? I don't know why I have such a hard time keeping things straight in my head while I'm on camera lol. I love the scarab, good to know about those tracks on the blade. Thanx for letting me know and for watching! Not sure if u just subscribed or not but if you did thanx for that too lol! Do u have a collection? If so whaddya got?

Yoooooooo, after I read that new comment, I think you knew what you meant but the wrong thing came out lol, it happens. Yeah the fluting on the blade is the water function, I know you know and I think it looks nifty too as a bonus. Actually just snagged the same Scarab ii gen 3, just waiting for UPS. I've been trying to watch any videos I can find on it to get me through the wait and there are not many on this Gen 3. I have only a few favorite Microtechs, the UTX-85 bounty hunter, a Delta Frag tanto with the nickel boron internals and fluted blade and hopefully in the next few days this Scarab which I have been wanting for over 10 years. So far yours is the best and the algos are doing you NO favors in helping people find it unfortunately (thanks YT...). You pretty much made the video I was going to make only yours is far funnier and longer so now I can just relax and watch more knife videos ha. Thanks for putting in the work, enjoy the Scarab it looks sick!@@letsdoitup7525

One last nerdy bit here. Your Scarab has the cleanest best clip I've seen. Just that beetle, not a bunch of branding and numbers and shit. I assume they won't stay like this for long, here's to hoping like hell the one I got has a clip like yours. Thanks for the sub, appreciate it!
