Great video. Hey FYI the reason that this knife has regular hardware instead of proprietary hardware is because of the requests from military and LE so they can take it apart in the field for cleaning and adjusting, tightening anything that may come loose etc

Thanks. That’s cool to know and that they listen to those guys needs.

I read somewhere that the lack of proprietary screws is so soldiers can take it apart in the field to clean etc.

@@ScotchNThings I do wish microtech made a mini folder socom with the same action just a 3" blade. I love my LUDT for edc but a socom about the same size with the same action as my current socom would be divine.

@ScotchNThings3 жыл бұрын
I love the auto now that I have it. But I’m still going to get a manual. The manual is one of the best actions on a knife in my opinion
@topfueljunkie1002 жыл бұрын
Since it only carries tip down, did you ever find that the blade deployment button is in danger of getting pressed when pulling it out of your pocket? It looks like it's right where you'd grab the knife to pull it out and like it could open before you've even fully pulled it out! Maybe it's not an issue as the button needs to be pressed deeper to deploy it?
@ScotchNThings2 жыл бұрын
Ya I never had an issue. And you do have to give the button a solid push to get it to deploy
@topfueljunkie1002 жыл бұрын

I bought 2 manual socom elites both had same problem for me. The detent is weak. You can easily throw the blade out with flick of wrist. So i sold them. Just ordered the auto version so won't have that problem.
@ScotchNThings Жыл бұрын
I’ve got one of each now and my manual is an older version from 2017 I think and it’s got a pretty good detent. I can’t do that with it.
@nevertakeadayoff2 жыл бұрын
I have a question (previous comment is just me blabbering on). How is the edge? Every knife manufacturer SUCK at sharpening because the angle is always different on each side. FUCKING KILLS ME. Also, Benchmade will let you custom order a knife - but you can't tell them to NOT SHARPEN IT! FUCK
@ScotchNThings2 жыл бұрын
From my experience Microtech, spyderco, Chris Reeve, Medford and Grimsmo have the best factory edges.

I really enjoyed your video. I am fortunate enough to own a manual socom elite and I love it! I have the opportunity to buy an auto socom elite and I was just wondering have you ha died both? And which do you prefer? If you have a preference.
@ScotchNThings3 жыл бұрын
I have handled both. In my opinion the manual is one of the greatest knives out there. I really want a manual but am glad I have the auto just to have a socom. It’s probably the hardest hitting auto I’ve ever used.

Tip down is a deal-breaker. Your justification for it made no sense. I'd like titanium for sure but aluminum not a problem for me. I prefer assisted. Benchmade's Barrage has been my best knife. How many knives have I bought and how many have I lost? ... I only have 2 right now and one of them needs to go back to Benchmade. Just custom ordered a Barrage with CF grips which I'm afraid I'm going to hate. I had something special laser-engraved on the blade which was a major influence this time around. I'm still looking for a better knife... I say this after I spent nearly $400 on the Barrage lol.
