Paul Buchanan is an extraordinary talent, - Scotland’s Leonard Cohen or Jacques Brel - who’s never really had the worldwide recognition he deserves, yet refuses to bow to the commercialization of the music industry. An achingly beautiful, simple masterpiece of a song

I’m assuming that what you said means he wrote the song? That is not made clear by the person posting the video .... 🤔

@@cacampbell3654 I’m not quite sure what you mean, but Paul Buchanan did write the song.

One of the rare, few men, who can bring you to the verge of tears, with his voice, words, melodies and music.

Pretty sure I saw this when it went out live, because I recalled it immediately. I remember being lucky enough to get tickets to see Blue Nile at what was the Colston Hall (now Bristol Beacon) on their last tour. They were utterly beautiful, but so modest with it. It’s so sad that they’ve not toured since. I’d happily go see them anywhere I could get to. I hope that they are well and thriving at whatever they’re doing now. Much missed.

My boyfriend dedicated this song to me on our 4th anniversary. He died in the earthquake of Mexico. I do not think I ever get over this pain.

We never get over such pain, we somehow learn to live with it. I am sorry for your loss.

Paul Buchanan has an extraordinary ability to write and sing with such beauty. Quite how both Paul and The Blue Nile are not acknowledged for their music is one of the great mysteries of the modern world.

I have loved this song ever since the movie came out. Just finished watching it, again. This song is so achingly beautiful that it seems much more poignant than the movie in which it was placed.

That movie is pretty damn poignant if you ask me! Lol The soundtrack enriches it, as a soundtrack should.

Francis you mentioned "this track is several years old, ......" The blue Nile fans like me, we got used to see new material every 8 years or so since the beginning of the days of the band. Very unfortunate but it is what it is :) Thanks for including the lyrics underneath

Lyrics The buttons on your collar The color of your hair I think I see you everywhere I want to live forever And watch you dancing in the air All the lies and make believe The very things that one day leave But I can see you standing in mid air The girl I want to marry Upon the high trapeze The day she fell and hurt her knees And only time can make you The wind that blows away the leaves For everything that life was worth The fallen snow, the virgin birth Yeah I can see her standing in mid air I can see you standing in mid air.
